Other one's finish was a much higher standard. That one's just "wrong" and awkward.
Yes, I know what you mean.
Go to the second photo, use the zoom box, and there's not a single wear scratch on it. Completely without any surface scratches at all, which shouldn't happen given those pieces are around a decade old. OK, it could be mint and unworn, but then where's the box and papers? And the metal surface isn't as smooth as you'd expect.
So again, all those things could just be that it's recently been Rhodium plated (as most white gold pieces need to be after wear every few years) but it just doesn't feel quite right to me.
Which comes back to the original fake spotting query.... There's no one thing that makes your senses tingle other than the most blatant and poor quality fakes, it's usually a combination of small things.
Best way to avoid fakes is to get to know a few lines of products really, really well.
Be a specialist in a few things you really like and are passionate about rather than trying to be knowledgeable about everything.
For me that's pretty much anything ever made by Cartier, jewellery or watches, and to a much lesser extent a few specific watches by Rolex or Omega or IWC or Sinn.
And I've had to learn more than I wanted to about Louboutin/Jimmy Choo of course, but only under protest to feed my wife's shoe habit.

You strike me as the sort of person who could do well buying and selling specialist high end watches and jewellery on ebay PN.
It takes a particular type of person to learn a few specialist lines inside out and be able to trade them well. And the ebay dispute process offers a lot of protection to people learning their craft in that regard.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I'll bear that in mind - but I've no experience of "high end" anything. Never seen anything high end in real life, never touched it - it's never been part of my life, or the life of anybody I encounter .... so it's difficult to see where a pauper would start realisticallyHAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »You strike me as the sort of person who could do well buying and selling specialist high end watches and jewellery on ebay PN.

I've had a couple of watches in the past - probably £5 max. Last one was about £3 I think!0 -
We have a leak in the yard. Its been there a while, tbh, I thought it was someone swilling a bucket out there. I cannot see where from. I'm guessing this means underground and big costs.
All our pipes out there are a obsolete type and diametre so I see no reason that where its under ground should be different.0 -

Oh dear - and you can't leave it as every wet patch = money literally going down the drain! Big water bill until you fix it.
I hope you get it isolated soonest!
You could have a bit of fun and give dowsing a go to trace it .... long shot. I'd love to do a spot of dowsing. It's one of those "dream job" type of silly moments really.0 -
Dowsing is amazing ... when you see the pieces of metal just swing together you can't quite believe it!0

I'm guessing the cost of investigating and repairing is going to dwarf cost of the very slow drip it must be. :mad:0 -

I know if a domestic customer has a leak there's the chance of getting it refunded, but I'm guessing it's on a business account. For residential they'll look at the high bill and compare it to the previous year's regular bill and do an adjustment (sibling had it happen last year).0 -

Mauve squeaker, btw, was decidedly perky last night. Vet said....it will either take two or three weeks or show quite quickly.
As if mauve squeaker is to be believed , the bed was full of mice last night, and our toes got a firm biting, we're thinking that the 'quickly' option is the one.0
