I've got the microwave instruction book. It says "designed to be free standing... not intended to be used built in or in a cabinet."

"... adequate ventilation, allow a clearance of 7.5cm behind, at each side and 30cm clearance above"

(So 3" behind, 3" to each side, 1' above)

    Not as much as MSE....:D

MSE is like eating chocolate when you are counting calories.

    It doesn't count:D

Hmmm... Am I alone in thinking the other semi-final is stronger?

    I think that too.

Most interesting is going to be situation between Russia/Ukraine this year, as EBU has said that Russia can be voted from Crimea, not Ukraine. I also note that 2 of the jury from Ukraine are from Crimea region, which could be interesting as both are in SF1.

5 CIS countries are in SF1 and 3 in SF2, whereas 2 Nordic countries are voting each in SF1 and SF2, which is again going to push any potential strategic voting firmly in the formers favour.

The UK is voting in SF2, and is in the final already, for anyone not familiar.

The situation with Turkey (not participating) is still interesting. If anyone wants me to explain, I'm happy to.

    This is highly summarised but;

There was an issue with the voting system in 2012, which Turkey claim favoured several Eastern European songs and leaving Turkey out, as only jury votes were cast.

The bottom line is that Turkey wouldn't have scored points from either of the two countries anyway, but decided it best to withdraw from the competition.

Until the jury goes, Turkey say they won't be back, but we'll see.

Although presumably the riding only lightens the bits that are long enough to come out below the helmet???

My dad tells me that there's something in human eye lenses that's there to block out the UV, but which gradually goes brown with age, leading to worse night vision and also less distinct colour vision. His night vision and colour vision are now better than they've been for about 50 years, because he got cataracts so had his lenses replaced with plastic ones that are completely clear and colourless.

This came up in thread 8 when we mentioned Monet changing the colours of his paintings when cataract surgery left him able to see UV. There's a couple of interesting websites about this, including William Stark's site in America- he has UV vision in one eye.

I'm hopeful that we're pretty close to me being able to put my feet up and enjoy some cheese and biccies with a glass of port as my car drives me to my destination.

I wonder whether you'd get narration as it drove along, a la satnav. So you could choose your company  [/end temporary flight of fancy]

That's fascinating. Noticed Dad was driving quite slowly when I went home at Easter and we had to detour through Bengeo (accidentally mis-named Borneo by me en route!) to the A10 from Stevenage station. It was dark and he had one cataract operation about a year ago. I had been wondering about his night sight.

It's been a lovely day here - lots of sun and I spent some time in the garden reading the JK Rowling book A Casual Vacancy.

DD and I have just got back from walking the borrowed dog in the woods. The bluebells are past their best now, but still impressive. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I know it well. Do you know the footpath that runs through an avenue of trees towards the school at m stoke? My parents planted those trees when I was in my teens.

I will go looking for it. Thank you.

I've managed to get burned. My phone's prediction of the temperature today was a little different to the reality.

It's been glorious. The pub is a fantastic one, perfect for today; the setting, somewhere to take the dogs, fabulous food and service.
