Not dead; just on a course and very busy (more homework than expected). Got another week of it.
Hope all is well.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I quite agree. I had to go to the local breast clinic for lumps which turned out to be cysts - but wasn't to know that at the time. The consultant was an utter b*st*rd and I ended up shaking and crying every time I 'relived' the experience in my mind for months afterwards - a type of PTSD on one minor level, I suppose.
Subsequently heard from an insider just how appallingly he behaved to colleagues too. Put in a complaint about my treatment, to be told that while he couldn't remember me, he couldn't imagine that he'd have behaved in the way I described and was ingrained indelibly on my mind. I'd rather refuse treatment with him (there would be others available instead) than have to go through that again.lostinrates wrote: »Bed?
Are you getting a bed?
Bed and something to sit on when watching TV - the rest can come! Though Ikea beds aren't compatible with any other bedding or mattresses so I would tend to avoid them from there. You need to eat some meatballs too.
Absolutely :T It's not a proper visit to Ikea without their superb (and cheap) meatballs!0 -
.... purchasing a new front door...
I'd be thinking a door's for security first, looking nice second.0 -

I doubt I'll get an Ikea sofa either.... there's a bigger range elsewhere. Plan is to keep it uber cheap..... and it's not until I've sat in the space a few weeks and seen how I use the room that I'll work out what arrangement's best. Lots of ideas in my head .... that might not be workable once I'm in the space and with a tape measure.
It's quite surprising how what looks like a big room suddenly becomes too small to fit two 2-seater sofas in.... I kind of like the idea of corners ... and all sorts of ideas. Have to look at how I walk around, which bits of the floor I use most, then plan the furniture around the natural walkways, bearing in mind the activities/locations I'll be using (TV/PC) and the way the light falls in through the windows (big on one wall, small on another).
There's no rush....0 -

I think the magic's worn off a bit since, as you can get same/similar in supermarkets. Back in about 1990 it was a real novelty item!!
Magic worn off way before then for me. Apart from the fact other people now ate meat balls. My mother used to make Swedish meatballs when I was small.0 -
If I ask my parents (I'm sure they would like to be involved), I'd probably be told to go for white rendering and a uPVC door. I don't think I want either of those. At some point I might post a photo of the front of the house over at t'other place and ask for your suggestions...
Quite agree you want a nice hard wood door and i would get a glazed one unless there is another window for the hall.our door is hardwood but stained brown, I want it repainted in shiny black....another 'want' for when we win the lottery
3 weeks to SA on BA starting in London £1474 per person in economy. Same flights in business class starting in Amsterdam 1292?!I think....0 -

Pastures, if you're worried about security, you can fit London bars (Yale style locks) or Birmingham bars (flush) to any door. If you want to you can add a couple of manual multi-points and a bump-proof lock. You can do all of that for about £50-60.

Back then I had a friend who was a butcher. I was round her house one night when her husband came in from his 2nd job and she brought his tea out .... she'd made him the hugest meatballs I've ever seen. There were two huge meatballs in gravy on the plate, almost the size of a tennis ball each! Now, he was 6'5" and she was a hefty mare, so I guess to them that was a normal portion, but I've dreamt, ever since, of one day having a huge meatball in gravy, with mash and veggies, just like what I saw that night!0
