It looks complicated, but it isn't at all, promise....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Had a growth scan today, and the baby's heart, other organs, stomach etc are all the right size and shape and so forth.
His head is big - 95th centile. Not a surprise, I have a big head, OH has a big head, Isaac does - there is a definite trend here!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

No trend just an MSE baby ensuring he can wear hand me down hats.0 -
Yes - I think (not wanting to upset tomterm's delicate sensibilities) I'll be more happy about him having a big head after the birth!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Spirit, I'm struggling with how to interpret your post about work, but hope you are ok. Whatever happened sounds not nice. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Yesterday I had an outpatient appointment at a local hospital. It did not go well.
A junior dr was present I am fine with this, they have to learn. I am not fine with them not being introduced by name. I asked her name, creating an awkward moment, and referred her to Dr Kate Grainger's blog.
The senior doc I saw tried a biopsy, it was unsuccessful as I have scar tissue from a previous procedure, so after quite a lot of pain (on my part) they gave up as there was concern that they could make a tear. I was biting my lip, had my fists balled into my eyes and teh now named junior doc was offering her hand for me to squeeze.
We had a calm but circular discussion about whether the NHS would fund the procedure, and her telling me it would be automatic if I had cancer, I explained that recent scans show I do not, however the next stage is for me to have another scan to 'see if anything has changed'. I am fairly confident it has not, there is nothing sinister going on, I am also to take an additional 4 tablets each day, on top of the 6 I already take for this condition alone. I already face a daily game of spewing roulette when I take the handful of drugs I take, the prospect of adding another 4 is not attractive.
In a further bid to put me off this major op, she described the increased Anaesthetic risk I face, nothing about how they would keep me safe, but did say that my other conditions mean that I may be an exception to the 'cancer only' criteria.
I have to go back in 8 weeks for a further OP appointment. I left there feeling a bit shaken form the failed procedure and frustrated.
Late afternoon, I had some unexpected side effects. I rang back to the clinic to ask "is this normal?", but could not get a response as the clinic closed at 4pm. Colleagues were becoming concerned about me and suggested they would take me to A&E. I declined, however rang the same specialty clinic at the local Teaching Hospital, explained my symptoms and asked "is this normal?". They said they would only know by examining me.
I went there, had fabulous care from two very kind nurses, a doctor examined me and described my symptoms as a consequence of the 'trauma' of the failed biopsy, and what to expect over the next day or so. They also gave me the clearest explanation of what some of the underlying problem is that I have had. The clinic finished late, and I was an unscheduled final patient. It was a simple spotless environment, newly opened in the last fortnight after previously being in long term 'make do' facilities. I am given a slip with telephone numbers to ring the ward overnight if I have any worries, and this morning the same teaching hosp clinic rang me to give me the results of blood test yesterday.
So fab care from one place and bl**dy awful from another.
I will see my GP shortly, discuss the funding and quality issues and may discuss transfer of my care from the District Hosp to the Teaching Hosp.0 -
Good luck Spirit. I am not sure in these situations if your knowledge of it as a workplace is a blessing, curse, or a bit of both. At least it sounds like you are in good hands now.
When you first posted I was concerned that you may have been assaulted at work, but not quite in the way you described. What a bl**dy awful day. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Spirit I am so terribly sorry the first situation happened.
So sorry.
I cannot say how much.
I know you are such a strong, positive and vibrant voice for the best of the NHS and I value the balance you provide in that respect. I resent this experience for denting that confidence you have.
Fab care is really hard to provide I think, so good for them. Bloody awful care can at best scare, and scar people for life. I hate the lot of them. Already have heebeejeebiees about my appt on Friday)

Sorry, no intention on my part to create such alarm. Should have been less coy.0 -
This is completely childish, but possibly MSE, on another forum, we have been kept amused by this

The mind boggles.:rotfl:
Own up, who looked at the contents list inside?!
So sorry to hear about your bad experience, Spirit. Hope there are no more side effects and that you get to transfer to this new hospital if you decide it's the right thing for you.0
