Thank you for your response.
I have today email Darran O'Hara, Store Manager with regards to your complaint, and I am more than confident he will speak to the sales/charity people to make sure that this does not happen again.
Once again thank you for bring this to our attention.
Kind regards

Hitler was a charity collector?Perhaps you are right but I believe this is a problem when these people overstep the boundaries of polite intervention. It should not be simply ignored and left for someone else to deal with. Say a collective NO to soliciting by telling the supermarkets et all that it is not acceptable. Ignoring the problem and hoping someone else will deal with it is exactly what the French did with Hitler and the world despises them for it to this day!

You'd think no-one had ever heard of saying 'no' to charity salespeople. A quick bit of eye contact and a quick 'no thanks' usually suffices.0

some approach you on the way in and the way out - at best it's irritating. Most of you have encountered the "soft approach" but some of you know what I'm talking about.
As far as Hitler is concerned........history is said to be written by the victors. Yes he was a mass murderer and evil dictator but he was also a genius with incredible drive and determination. One man took a broken Germany and in a very short space of time managed to united it into a powerful force that nearly took over the world. Just think what someone like that could have achieved if his motives were focused on "the good".0 -
OP I have some sympathy with you. At our local B&Q there is always a salesperson of somesorts there and they always approach you. What annoys me is that when you say "no thanks" then that should be the end of the matter completely, but it never is.
I'll complain myself next time they try to put pressure on.Pants0 -

Except they weren't for good, and he was responsible for the deaths of millions of people, so absolutely go ahead and bring that up on a thread about mild annoyance at charity collectors in a supermarket.0 -

In my experience charity collectors simply stand at the door like stuffed dummies as they're not allowed to even rattle their collection tubs at people.
As for sales people - which are usually the AA or RAC patrol men - get a quick I'm already a member reply2014 Target;

Be aware that many of these collectors are not from the charity they collect for but work for a private fund raising company, here is a short exert from something i wrote last month.
In January there was a group of people inside Morrisons who said they were from the Samaritans, they wouldn't accept donations and tried to persuade people to fill in a Direct Debit form. Well they weren't from the Samaritans, they were from Unique Fundraising! Similarly, the man in Marks and Spencers in February with the Battersea Dogs Home stand was from Fundraising Initiatives Limited. These companies receive a comission for everyone who signs, I couldn't find out how much but the Heart Foundation pays £154. So if you do a DD for £3 a month the first four years payments goes to this private company!0
