Hi I opened 2 solo accounts for me & the wife in branch yesterday & a joint account to go along with our Classic Enhance accounts. Unfortunately having trouble funding said accounts with faster payments from my relatively new Santander 123 account. I realise banks take fraud protection seriously in this day and age, however is it a case of over zealous fraud protection team, or banks not being over eager to allow the freedom of movement between financial institutions via faster payments ? thoughts as i intend to shuffle money regulary between these banks

Whats the exact issue you are having with Santander?

I've never experienced any issues paying money to accounts at other financial institutions via faster payments (other than attempting to exceed daily/transaction limits but that was only once)

And by the number of people who have admitted to already getting interest on their TSB accounts, then I don't think its generally an issue.

I guess you need to take the issue up with Santander if they are rejecting your request to pay another account by Faster Payments.

Many others on here have more. Saw a post earlier today on another website where someone had 26 accounts in their own name, but also managed the family's portfolio of accounts as well...a total of 80 current accounts requiring 40 minutes of admin once a month to carry out the 'shuffle'.

Wow well I guess that's one way to have a credit report that is like War and Peace!
So is earning 1-1.5% when you can earn 3-5% instead!

Very true indeed! Although I wonder how long this situation of current accounts paying higher interest than savings accounts will last.Who knows maybe this could become the new 'normal'

There is nothing missing, more that the layout looks less polished than the Lloyds version - the Lloyds template was rolled out to the other brands..

One annoying thing I've found in Halifax's version is that when you click on an account, the little picture of the card in the top left corner is displayed with the wrong proportions. It's the kind of thing which might make you think it's a phishing site

I find it weird that TSB and Lloyds have the Money Planner tool, but Halifax and Bank of Scotland don't.

Got my two debit cards. :) but still no online banking activation code. :(

I'm considering just transferring the money to the accounts anyway now I know they are definitely open, but don't like the idea of not seeing it arrive.

You can log in to the account without the activation code.

Yes most people can, not me though. My details don't work so I registered for online banking using one of my accounts numbers and I'm waiting for the online banking activation code.

Are you by any chance using the 'send a £1 test payment to a new payee/account to double check you've got details right, followed by a larger payment' method? :p

If so, Santander are perhaps more rigorous in checking these than other banks. However, they will arrive by the end of the following day, which is the FP standard. All subsequent payments should go instantly if my experience is typical :)

DONT open the account by phone ...... took me 20 mins yesterday on phone - promised would be live in 24 hrs - they still cant see it.

Opened second account online today took about 4 mins including registering for internet banking and was able to access the account immediately!!

After opening by phone they have to 'process' paperwork and they think they have a backlog.... online or in branch, account is opened straightaway (although I'm not sure about the registration for online banking situation with branch opening, so I would go for online.....)

This all works for individual accounts, but joint accounts have to be done by phone or in branch...... so given what I've said above, choice here would be in branch if you can get to one.
