Their online banking only showed the option to enter an activation code yesterday for me - accts opened Sunday. A seperate screen as you log on.
I thought perhaps this might be because they've now actually sent the code.0 -

I've just got an email saying I've been declined.
Very puzzled as had no problem with opening First Direct account 2 months ago and a Virgin ISA last week.
Never failed to pay credit card bill and morgage paid off years ago.
Same for me, also mortgage free since last year and also got declined. Last time I was refused credit was over 20 years ago. Also I didn't even ask for the overdraft!0 -

No because I can't log in. My log in details are not recognised. I called them and they told me I have to wait to be sent the activation code, but without being able to log in a code is no use! I decided to register for online banking and seemed to recognise my account number so now waiting for an online banking activation code as well as the plus account activation codes.
I have to say experience so far with the "try before you buy" account, I wouldn't be buying.0 -

Good morning everyone. I've had an email overnight telling me that my application was declined. Does anyone know why this might be? I searched the forum and there doesn't seem to be anyone else that has been declined. I've reapplied now without saying the account is for savings and will see if they change their mind. Might it be this?
Cheers0 -
theres been a few declined, and if I rememeber one of them also put savings0

I put "savings" on both my applications (and that I'm retired incidentally), and they were approved immediately, with notification from Experian first thing on the Monday.
I used the link from this thread on Sunday, funded them immediately, and it all went through amazingly easily.
I have a smallish pension income, but am an outright houseowner, which the financial people seem to like (oh, and also on the voter's roll). I've never been declined for anything yet (touch wood).0 -
well its not the savings that did it then, but who knows as it could be that your retired that allowed you to have savings options go through0
