It's most likely the usual, annoying, Santander delay for a first payment to a new payee.
  • Some organisations can 'spot' a call from a UK number if u try to use their number reserved for calls from abroad......

The 'workaround' is to prefix the number with 141 to suppress CLI ... the number being called can't 'see' your number....

I use this all the time, as a lot of organisations I call use 0844 numbers... I pay extra on my phone tariff for anytime 01, 02, 03 0845 and 0870 numbers so I object to paying for 0844 ....!!!

Yeah, I haven't had the stopwatch running but it looks like approx 24 hours before the first transfer landed, annoyingly the second transfer into the same account as the first seems to be getting knobbled in the same way.

I've chosen to shunt money back and forth between Santander and TSB each month rather than internally with TSB so it'll be interesting to see if this nonsense continues.

Irritating experience with TSB so far, it seems that there is no consistency between how they deal with applications for accounts. I create an account online, then I'm asked to go to a branch with my ID (no idea why some people have to do this, others don't), but then can't process a second online application online after this. So I go to the branch to take my ID, and process my second application, but I'm told I have to wait for the first account to be created, then will have to go back to the branch again to open the second account with my ID. Never had so much trouble in just trying to set up two basic bank accounts. Are there any representatives from TSB on here who can explain this?

I am not a TSB rep but I reckon your problems are due to the information TSB could find about you online (credit reference agencies, electoral register etc). Have you recently checked your credit files? Did you apply with exactly the same spelling of your name and address as held on your credit files?

That's what I can't thought maybe, but I have a good credit score, name and address is fully correct, and I've lived at my address for 3 years.

I expect a lot of people who have opened TSB accounts were already customers of Lloyds/HBOS, so the credit checks would have been straightforward.

I've got a TSB Classic Plus account and, having logged in, tried to open a second account - I clicked the Current account link under "Day-to-day" but it said "Sorry we can't offer you a secondary current account."

Have they changed the rules so you can only have one Classic Plus account, or have I gone about this the wrong way?

You need to apply for a second account without being logged in. You go through the full application but your new account should be tied to your existing online profile.

Fantastic, thanks. All set up. :D
