You are allowed more than 1 though. How does this help?

You may be declined if you attempt a second whilst logged in

In other words...apply and get 1st one, then apply for another with the exact same details (without being logged in to the one just opened).
Then log in, they should be linked.

They still haven't linked my accounts! I applied on the first day they were available and you had to be logged out to apply.
I have 3 Classic Enhance under one user id and 2 Classic Plus under another id which their site recommended when I tried to use my original id. Debating whether to contact their internet banking team or leave to see if they change the conditions for the enhance account.

Thank you all, just opened up TSB Classic, plus account and when doing a standing order to get money back to origin, wasn't expecting them to ring back instantly with a code number to repeat back. Of course my phone isn't near the comp. so lol scramble. All OK now. Thanks OP Typist.

I have just opened 1 tsb classic plus account, now being logged out i want to open another.
When filling in user id and password and memorable info for the second account will i have to create new passwords etc , or use the same ones as the 1st account?

I see above post 998 indicates using same details, but does that mean user id, password etc as well.

Sounds like both your accounts are opened? My first is bit the second they (again) want verification. I wasn't asked to choose an ID the second time.

Think I'll just go and give them my identity documents again instead and see what happens.

I'm in the same situation as you were. Did you manage to resolve this?

Unfortunately, I'm out of the country, and will be for months, so can't go into branch to show them proof of ID again. I called to explain this but they didn't seem to understand.

I went into branch to get them to copy and send off the documents but ended up in a meeting with the personal banking manager who instead of opening the account that was pending identity check opened a new account.

I didn't realise that's what they were doing at first otherwise I'd have stopped them as it's presumably added another credit check to my file. It opened fine and immediately showed in online banking.

They said that they would take a copy of my documents and sent them to account openings with a cover note that I no longer required the account, however to my surprise 10 days later I received an email to say that the account was opened. So I've managed to get three plus accounts which I'm not complaining about.

Sounds like you've also ended up with two profiles which is why they are not recognising you as an existing customer and linking the accounts. They insisted on the phone (CS, not account openings) that the only way to sort this was by going into branch and getting the profiles merged. Have you spoken to the account openings department?

Opened 2 tsb classic plus accounts today, should get welcome pack in 7 days and then be able to fund them.
I remember opening 2 lloyds vantage accounts and sent money to them the next day.

You can fund them straight away. You just cant withdraw from them until you receive your "code" in the post.

Yeah, you could get your 3% on £20,000, OR you could get 5% on £4,000 (with two TSB accounts) and 3% on the remaining £16,000. Infact, there are better options still, have a look at additional accounts.

Yeah 5% for £2500 in nationwide and 4% for £3000 in Yorkshire bank. There is a point where it makes more sense to put £3000 in Santander to get the 3% rather than fully fund the higher amounts, but you need to do the maths. It's a last resort account for those with a lot of money, I certainly wouldn't be trying to max out the £20000 in there first.

Martin was advising against wasting your ISA allowance each year, as the market will flip eventually. The allowance shooting up to £15000 removes that risk for anyone who has savings less than that. If the amount you have in an ISA + the amount you are going to be able to put into the ISA this year is less than £15000 then it makes no sense to have an ISA right now. If you have more than £15000 then keeping some of it in an ISA might make sense if you're risk averse. They are low risk and low return, the only good thing about them is the low return isn't taxed.
They still haven't linked my accounts! I applied on the first day they were available and you had to be logged out to apply.

I believe you aren't supposed to be able to open the second one until the first one is completely set up.

I couldn't get a second one open immediately whether I logged in or not, it just said I couldn't open the account at the time. After receiving the confirmation (which as it was the first day took about four hours) I logged in and opened the account fine.

I think some people got "lucky" and managed to get the second application in before the first one showed up on their system, but of course you face the problem of two logins. Maybe you should phone them.
