There is a little known fact about posting small items abroad which are under 100g.
If correspondence about the product is enclosed then the Post Office SHOULD allow you to send it at LETTER RATE.
Even some Post Office staff do not know this and I have had to fight for it at times!
I wrote to the Post Office about this as I could not find it on the websites and now I have a letter confirming this in black and white.
Hope this helps someone!:beer:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. A better analogy would be you pay your mate petrol money to take you somewhere, he drives a Land Rover so the petrol comes to £20. The following week you need to make the same journey and another mate with a Smart car takes you and the petrol only costs £10.
Would you expect mate 1 to go out and buy a Smart car to save you petrol?Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -

I'm not sure what your anology means, RM chrge the same for everyone over the counter. There are differences for business customers holding accounts but they will always be less than 'stamp' priceI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Sorry, Soolin', I wasn't responding to your post though I can see it might look that way.

Actually, to tie this in more closely with the OP's experience. Mate 1 tells you beforehand the petrol will come to £20 in his Landrover. You don't even have a friend with a Smart car but if you did you know it would have cost less. Should you go and let your mate's tyres down? :rotfl:Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

This is why my next batch of sales are going on with free postage! I listed 24 a few weeks ago and sold I think 10, on two of those I didn't correctly calculate that the item would end up in the medium parcel range once packaged so ended up bearing the brunt of that one (having charged small parcel).
My own fault but at the same time, I personally wouldn't have wanted to pay that much postage for the items as a buyer so I wouldn't have bid.
I think from that perspective, as a seller it is good to keep postage costs as low as possible.
As a buyer, as long as I paid within 50p or so of the price on the sticker of a parcel, I'm happy to give 5 stars.0 -
I still find the lengthy arguments justifying excessive postage a waste of time. In the future even a 3* is going to be considered a 'defect' (I hate that word) so I suspect more and more sellers will face restriction, regardless of what they are told is OK on forums like this.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It's not "postage" though is it? It's postage and packing, and not to forget eBay charge 10% on it and Paypal also charge you 3.5% on the postage.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Maybe the seller had a job lot of boxes and uses them regardless.
However, you could go back to them and point out that they are over-paying for postage; they might even thank you!0
