BT Broadband help needed!

Does anyone know if BT have a minimum speed that they promise to customers?

My mum's Broadband hovers between .7 and .8 Mb download speed even at quiet times and in my opinion that's ridiculously slow.

I did a load of diagnostics before and rang BT and they "reset something" (.probably told me this to get me off the phone) and said give it a few days.

But it's been weeks and it's still slow. Does anyone have any advice on how to get BT to up the speed?

No as so much depends upon internal connections .

Can you access the routers log in .
Have you tested from the master socket .

How many telephone sockets are inside the home in total?

Where abouts is the main socket located inside the home (the one that connects to the line where it enters the house)

Is the router connected to the main (master) socket, without any telephone extension cables?

What method are you using to measure the broadband connection speed?

That's still well above the technical definition of broadband: 256kbps I believe..

It isn't a remote area though or far away from the exchange!

Well, I've heard nothing from BT since contacting them as the rep suggested. Pretty poor.

I could potentially help, but would need answers to the questions above.

Also, is your master socket of NTE5 design with a removeable faceplate?
Have you tested from the test socket, by removing the face plate if so?

It should be within the next 24 hours. They are only a small team with many cases to deal with. So a contact period of 3-4 days is usually the norm. Hope they get it sorted for you.
