Gillette, GOOD LUCK for the job interview on Wednesday :) I hope it goes well.

ilovegreatdanes, It sounds like you've got a lot going on in your head atm and finding it difficult to make sense of it all.

Ideally what would you like to happen in your life? What would make your life seem worthwhile to you?

    (((HUGS)))

Skint_Catt, Did your Doctor offer to refer you for counselling instead? Perhaps he doesn't feel like the Fluoxetine will help. How long were you taking it before?

I hope you find your passport. It's always the way isn't it, you move something from a messy place to someone safe and then you can't remember where that safe place is!

    grouphug02sq4.gif

*zippy*, It's nice to see a post from you :) Try not to stress yourself out by worrying about the results. I'm sure everything is fine. When will you get the results? (((HUGS)))

Little Pickle, (((HUGS))) Do you feel a sense of relief now that you have spoken to your Doctor about how you are feeling? I hope you get referred soon. Did your Doctor suggest anything to help you cope in the meantime?

Tulip, You poor thing! I hope you are resting your ankle. I hope it isn't too painful and that it gets better soon.

Woohoo! I'm normal! Gotta go tell the cat.

Thanks RBK, sorry you had a bad day :grouphug:

Think its going to be a couple of months at a guess, I think the worrying is just part of it all, I know its silly, but if it wasn't that I would be worrying about something else :)

thats cos no one is allowed to post anything of substance on depression thread

    Hi guys

if the above quote is due to any misunderstanding of the first post of this thread, can I just say that the rules haven't changed at all. The first post was just a gentle reminder; please don't post or ask for medical advice and keep personal arguments off the thread (either use pm's or report).

    thanks :)

    Hi guys!:hello:
    How's everyone doing today?
    Hoping you're all well.

I'm still settling back into Tiff Towers after my break and the way things are going, it could take longer than the holiday did! :D

As I'm only one Tiff, :D , I'll start back at page 1 of our latest new home. Apologies in advance if I'm repeating advice or if advice is no longer required - you're getting it anyway! :D;)

I hope we all have a great weekend. Take care guys.hug.gif

    Hi westclok!:hello:
    How are you hun?

    quote=westclok;
    Hey peeps,
Was out drinking again last night , think i really need to cut back on that... Got the counsellor tomorrow so hopefully they will be able to give me some advice on how to cope better with depression/anxiety.
Ooooo westclok - you have to be careful with the dizzy water hun!
Well done though for realising it's a problem and not a good idea, and then planning to sort it out with your counsellor. You don't want to give yourself more problems than you've already got.;)

I got offered a job, said they would send out the contract and all that nonsense. I thought at that point i should really tell them about my condition. Being on a boat for 6 weeks could do more harm than good. Anyways, they have contacted there HR team and had a discussion about me, they are gonna contact me sometime next week, I reckon they will retract there offer knowing my condition.
I'm sure you must be worried that they might withdraw their offer angel but there are other ways to look at it if they do. If you had a mental ill health crisis and you were stuck on a boat, how would you manage angel?:o
It's not just themselves they have to think about hun, it's you and your health as well. At least you've been honest with them so that shows your good intentions.:T

If you're already having trouble with your ill health issues angel, then it's probably best that you do stay where you are and recover more before taking on any more responsibility. Then all your records and support team are at hand.
I do wish you good luck though hun.:T

Its weird, loads of people say think about people who are worse off than yourself, but it is really hard to pull yourself out of a slump and think outside of your own wee world.
k, thats my wee rant over, hope everyone is having a nice day and doing well.
When you think about people worse off than yourself, it can make you even more depressed and less likely to ask for help because you might feel you're wasting the dr's time. You are quite entitled to rant hun.;)

The next time someone says that to you hun, tell them straight,
"I hadn't thought of that you know - I was enjoying feeling like this. Maybe you can diagnose me and tell me how to get better now? You make it sound so simple! I don't know why a quarter of the population decide to get mental ill health - how selfish and stupid can we be?!"

Your pain is just as important as anyone else's pain. Pain is pain. It really gets my hackles up when people say this sort of thing when they obviously have no experience on the subject!frusty.gif

Right, I'm getting off my soapbox.gif now.:D
It takes time to get the problems we have and it can take longer sometimes to get rid of them, especially if you keep it all bottled up. Just trust your drs hun and listen to their advice. Thinking of you.hug.gif

    hi all,

had medical last fri but havent heard yet.was kept waiting nearly an hour, by which time i was nearly in bits.he said would last bout 40 mins to 1 hour and would do exam as well, although im classed as clinically depressed, am also not good with some physical stuff.anyway.....was in tears nearly straight away and couldnt concentrate or rem anything he asked.then after 10 mins, he said best to go home and they will let me know within 3 weeks...no exam or anything so dont know if good or bad but will let you know.
i have mother of all headaches 2day so am going for a lie down cos could be a migraine, then im stuffed.
just to let you know im here and will keep posting as and when.
take care everyone and keep your spirits up.
    love and regards, ilgd xx

    Hi ilgd!:hello:
I hope you're feeling better hun.
What was your medical for angel? Obviously you must have been feeling very anxious with the delay. You'll have to find little distraction techniques to help you through things like that sweetie. The other thing you could try when you're that low is to tell the receptionist and after they'd told the dr how ill you were, you may have been see sooner or you could have asked for somewhere quiet where you could sit on your own or even lie down. Always worth asking.;) Good luck with the results hun.hug.gif

i'm just in the process of stopping my citalopram as i don't feel it's doing anything for me......

been feeling abit down recently......went to see the doctor but same old same old.......waste of time.

i know the only way i'm going to get out of this is through doing it myself....

    Hi carpy!:hello:
    How are you angel?
I'm sorry things are so rough for you right now hun.

It is never a waste of time going to see your dr hun. Please persevere carpy. A few Tiff thoughts...

    - It is never a good idea to stop your meds without medical supervision. This could be another reason you felt that it had been a waste of time - your mood could have dropped lower as a result.

    - It may be that because you feel so low, that you're not taking in what he's saying.

    - If your meds aren't helping in your opinion angel, go back to the dr and explain patiently and ask about possible alternatives. Maybe you could ask for another assessment or better still, print off your post and take it with you to show them and discuss it.

    - If you're unhappy with your treatment angel, the only way it's going to change is if you talk to your dr, saying how you really feel.

    - Maybe you should see a diferent gp there if you feel unhappy. Again, I think you should ask yourself whether you feel this way because of your mental ill health? Is it an accurate picture?

    - If you have mental ill health hun, you need support and input from professionals. We all feel at some point that it's a waste of time, nothing's working, we should go it alone. Imho ilgd, try and remember how hard it was to talk to your dr about your health issues the first time. Would you really want to have to do that all over again?:o

    - And maybe this was a bad day for you and you needed to let off some steam and things might look better later?

Yes, you do have to do all the hard work hun because you're the one that's poorly, but you need to be guided and supported by professionals with experience while you do it. It's so frustrating I know and it can seem like forever, but it will work out if you're honest with them and work with them.

Bear in mind too hun that they may have an independant insight into your illness that you can't see yet. So please don't cut yourself off angel - it's hard enough to get help in the first place.;) Wishing you well hun.hug.gif

    Hiya everyone,
...Am more tired than ever. Had a kip this afternoon and feel like I've not slept a wink. I wish I knew what was causing this - if its the tiredness that causes the depression or if its depression thats making me so tired.

Arghhhhhh - I just want to be me again!

    Allie xx

    Hi allie!:hello:
    Amen to that hun!:T :o
Tiredness and depression can go hand in hand angel and can feed into each other. If you're not getting proper rest hun, I'd say a visit to your gp is called for.;) You need to back up your resources for any low points that may come.

It's always a good idea to mention these things to your drs guys, no matter how unimportant you think they are. You don't want to add any more problems to your list.;)
    I hope you're feeling better allie hun.hug.gif

Please can I ask, does anyone use any other forums? I find I don't sleep until late and usually mse is quiet by then. Can anyone recommend some suitable sites. I searched for one for insomniacs, but nothing really came up.
