Hi pj!:hello:
How are you hun? I hope you managed to get some sleep angel.;) Well done you for getting out into the garden.:T
Of course you're still shocked pj hun - that was a lot to take in all at once!
There isn't a right or wrong way sweetie ~ and we know you're not sounding nasty or selfish. You handle it in your own time pj.;)
The only guidance I'd offer hun, is to try and think about how you'll feel about what you decide in the future. It's a good idea imho, if you ask yourself,
''Will I look back and wish I had done ??? in the future?''
These kinds of events only allow you the one chance hun.
It's not meant to push you into doing anything angel - it's a helpful way of protecting yourself for the future.
Whenever you go angel, it's going to be hard and upsetting and I can so understand you feeling scared. Your family and friends will be feeling the same way, so you won't be the only one feeling like this sweetheart.
It's always a hard thing to get through, but families tend to help each other through these events somehow pj.
You don't have to be the one standing there being strong for everyone else. You're allowed to feel those emotions hun.
Maybe you could leave it until a couple of days before your uncle's funeral before you go down angel? You have to do whatever's right for you. Even if you can't face going down at all hun, you could still remember him and say goodbye wherever you are, in your own way.
However and whenever you grieve hun, it doesn't matter - your uncle knows you loved him and that is all that really matters.
Take things easy hun - I hope this helps just a little.:o All your decisions will suddenly just fall into place pj.;)
Look after yourself angel - thinking of you.
Much Love,

Hi all,
I often read these boards but have never posted before...I guess now I need a little support and you guys seem so good at supporting each other.
I've just resigned my job this morning and don't have to go back in to work my notice. It was my first job and I used to love it, but a year ago I was put on anti depressants and it has just gone downhill from there. Had a bit of a talking to a couple of months ago about my work despite telling my employer of my probs and this resulted in me losing all my confidence. It was like being told you are crap at everything you ever thought you could do. Anyway, I tried to 'improve' but it did not work, and my collegues weren't that understanding. I felt like such a failure.
I'm sorry you're having such a tough time hun.:o Something appears to have kicked in a year ago to trigger your depression star. Apart from the ad's, are you getting any support from your gp, or any input from the Mental Health Team?
From what you wrote, you did the right thing in leaving. It's hard enough trying to manage mental ill health without being put down at work - it's not surprising you lost your confidence hun & it's bound to have impacted upon your depression.;)
You haven't failed in any way angel. You're ill - & as we know, it's a genuine illness and not something we can pick and choose. Your body was trying to tell you that it was struggling hun.
As for your colleagues star, I would never wish mental ill health on anyone, but the chances are that one of them at least, will experience it for thmselves. People tend to become suddenly very understanding when they go through it themselves!
With no support or understanding from them, this would only have made things harder for you.
Went on holiday to Cornwall (where I grew up) 3 weeks ago with family and when I came back I was so tearful and dreaded going back to work. Over the last couple of weeks I've lost my appetite and have develeloped severe IBS due to to stress of work. Had most of last week off with IBS and had a long chat with Mum about everything. I have decided to make a stand to change things for the better, with my family's help, and decided to look for a new job.
Going back to your childhood home may have been a need for love and understanding. When we become depressed, it's hard to come to terms with because this isn't how we saw our life being.
Thank goodness for your family's support sweetheart.:T Have you been back to your gp or medical professional? I'd just caution you not to go rushing into anything right now maybe- give yourself a bit of a break from the stress you're under.
IBS is another nasty that no-one wants! I've had severe IBS and it stops you dead in your tracks. Have you had it before star? Your lack of appetite could be down to the depression and/or causing the IBS to really flare. Equally, your IBS can cause the other problems. Stress is a big factor so lots of deep relaxation can help. Please make sure you see tour gp regularly angel.;)
Anyway, today came, after an awful weekend of weepiness and confusion, and I woke up feeling so low. I was so desperate I went to my next door neighbour who is a good older friend and just broke down. I realised that there was no way i could continue working at that company in this state. I rang my manager and she was very understanding. Consequantly, I am now free!
Well done you for not hiding yourself away and being brave enough to open up to your neighbour star!:T
Good neighbours are becoming an endangered species sadly. The other positive here is that you took control of the situation and resigned for the sake of your health. I bet you immediately felt better with that burden gone.;)
BUT...I am so scared!! I have 0% confidence in looking for a job. I am going to try to get a nice retail role to keep me going for a while and get me out and about, but the whole pressure of money is really worrying me. I know what I need to earn each month just to cover my bills, and my boyfriend who I live with is able to help out.
As far as the finances are concerned angel, you could start off with our very own :money: debt free wanabee thread. Also CAB can look at your finances and negotiate with your creditors if you don' feel you can. Make sure you take all your paperwork/bills with you. CAB will also know what benefits you may be entitled to. Finances impact on our health heavily, so don't leave it - do it now.
Make sure you tell the DWP if you apply for unemployment benefits, that you left because you were physically too ill to work and felt you had to resign, that there was no other choice. This is important because you don't want them thinking you just walked out wihout good reason or cause.;)
In addition, if your mental ill health and IBS have been so bad for a year that your work was affected badly and you felt you had to resign, then you may also want to consider claiming DLA hun. It doesn't matter what your circumstances are - it's based purely on the facts of how ill you are. This link will give you the information you need hun...
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/FinancialSupport/DG_10011925
I would strongly advise you against filling it in online or without the help of CAB or your local Mental Health Advocate (google for who that is). A lot of claims fail without the extra help of these experienced people, who know exactly how to word your issues. Also DLA does not affect any benefits you get.
Sorry to just blurt all this out, but i guess it really does help to just get it out in the open. I have been thinking about going to university next September (again another money worry) as I feel like I want to learn and develop.
Feel better now...
Has anyone been in the same/similar position?
I'd love to hear from anyone.
Love Me xxx/quote
WHOA there!
Give yourself some breathing space hunnie.;)
As far as uni, I think it's admirable that you want to update your skills angel.:T But you're already planning a year ahead! Now Tiffy hasn't mastered this yet,, but you've got to take all the little steps to be able to manage to achieve the big ones. Your health comes first hun.
About affording uni, there may be options available to you that would virtually pay for all you need in cases of financial hardship.
You didn't blurt anything out hun - your post was very clear.:T
Good luck with everything star - wishing you well hun.
Much Love,
