Barclaycard World MasterCard (Ex Egg Money) Being Replaced with Amex + Visa Combo

Just an update on mine - I was told that the only people recieving the £50 were those paying interest, which you lovely people confirmed was a complete lie.
I complained on 17th March both about being lied to and about being treated differently from other customers, and my complaint was escalated to the Customer Relationship Team. Despite a chasing message, I've still not heard from them, despite a promise that I would be contacted in 5-7 working days.
Definately a lie. Never have I paid interest.0 -
I've just today been told it's not possible to put the double cashback on my High5 account, they've apologised for the mistake the previous adviser made 3 weeks ago and said I won't be getting the double cashback.
Any other High 5's had this?0 -
they've changed their minds? no way....just don't accept it.0

though, to be fair, with the changes i am making i am happy to do without a Barclaycard Cashback card from this summer onwards.0

They spontaneously offered a further £50 compo for their change of mind. Given I have a 4% Luma, I can live with that!
Just curious as they told me outright that they had found it was impossible to apply to my type of account - so either this is the beginning of a deluge of similar turnarounds for the other High-fivers here who've been given double cashback, or they are lying to me. I suspect the latter, as come July they could just set me up with any kind of account they wanted.0 -
gwapenut, are you sure other High5 cardholders have been offered double cashback? I have one and when I was searching the forums for examples of what others have been offered (to use as my base offer acceptance position!) I could only see World Mastercard members offered this. Happy to be proved wrong! All I got out of them was a £65 compensation offer. I don't really mind as my wife has a World Mastercard with double cashback so we can both use this for six months.
Re the World Mastercard, ours has lain dormant since it changed from Egg. We started using it last month to show some activity for when we made our complaint. £150 spent, and they were happy to offer the £15/£300 offer (wasn't on our letter like everyone else reported, presumably cos card dormant), double cashback for six months and £50. Jobs a good 'un!
Didn't accrue any cashback on the £150 though. They said it's cos there is a £5 minimum on cashback and as this is earned over the 12 months to March, we didn't get it. We will continue to accrue at 1% going forwards though, at least until the card change in May.If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...0 -
i thought, initially, that the only people being offered DoubleCB deals were World holders, not High5ers.....but there are people who have confirmed that this is not the case in this thread.
agreed gwapenut. it is either untrue. or there are about to be a lot of others having their decisions reversed:think:0 -
What planteria said .... I've seen reports from a few high5's of double cashback. As you say MrChips, mostly it's world mastercard/egg (though that could be the bias caused by this thread's origin) so perhaps it's only a hadnful of us high5's, and we will all be reversed.
Either way, my forthcoming big expenditure will accept Amex, so I get bonus compensation plus no excuse not to apply for a smash and grab on Amex.0 -
Barclaycard paid me £50 on 1st email which I accepted. I then sent them an email asking for double cashback aswel. They replied saying they have forwarded this their complaints.
Got an email from their complaints dept today - agreed to add double cashback + £25 for delay in responding.0 -
I'm a little disappointed I was offered nothing when I complained a few weeks ago. I'm a high5 card holder, I assumed this was due to the fact I earned over £300 cashback last year and never paid interest.
I think I'll raise a new complaint and ask why I'm being treated differently from so many others on here who are in similar positions to me.0
