    Really odd letter from Amazon today. On one hand it says
    Your Direct Debit has now been set up
    and on the other hand it says
    Until you see a message on your statement advising a direct debit will be taken, please make your payment by an alternative method

    That happens with most cards. They've set it up but it's possible your next statement may already have been in the process of being generated, in which case you will need to make a manual payment,

    Biggles is right Froggitt. they are just covering their bottom, incase the DD is not set up in time for your next payment. it is worth ensuring that you don't miss a payment as they'll be good at telling you it wasn't their fault;)

    Agreed, have had same message from them, just look on your next statement and see if will be taken by dd. I'm betting mine will be dd but will do bank transfer if not. Quite liking the amazon points collecting though... It's going to be an amazon Christmas here again!

    Thanks to the advice here I just emailed them saying that I was unhappy with the new arrangements & they phoned me back within 30 minutes & offered me double cash back for 6 months & £50 credit to my account.

    Me too. Now been waiting for a week and a half for a response.

    Wonder why there is a big difference in how they react to the same complaint.

    I haven't bothered complaining - though I got an offer of 12 months 0% on purchases by trying to close my 'other' egg card.

    It maybe that the amount of people complaining has led them to play hardball. I haven't heard of anyone getting offers in the last few days?

    I think this could very well be true as they have been throwing a lot of money at this issue. However they've made the changes to the credit card and a lot of people are dissatisfied about the changes. They've appeased ex EGG card people by offering a sweetener to trial the new 2 card replacement for 6 months. I can't really see how they can offer this to one set of people, then not offer it to others in exactly the same position. Obviously their tactics may be to make it slightly harder to try and put people off!
