No real further progress to report other than it's now been passed to the 'official' complaints team and given a reference number - so still awaiting their response.

Incidentally when I spoke to First Direct today about another matter they were able to pre-approve me over the phone for one of their gold cards matching my credit limit on Barclaycard.

I know you don't get any perks/rewards as such with First Direct, but it will probably make stuff a lot easier to keep an eye on/manage in the long term, and I still have my other Amex to use where I can for points.

Will be interesting to see whether this pushes up adoption of Amex in retailers - as the fees for the retailer are still much more than Visa/Mastercard/Debit Cards.

has anyone with the 'High5' account received their letter yet?

I got one today. Switching me from July.

Not a big deal for me. I have AMEX platinum cashback card which I use where possible. I use my Barclaycard for my biggest purchases and to pay for my parking so that I hit the 15 transaction per month to get the bonus cashback rate.

    Yes, arrived today.

No mention of £15 for us, either, I'm afraid, just the soothing promise that the new two-headed account (from July) really will be free of "unanticipated fees" and "won't confuse you with complicated tiers."

And the letter is simply information not a notice of variation (coming in two months time?)
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

Barclaycard has been pushing Amex to its merchants. Most Barclaycard merchants also aren't eligible for promotional Visa/MC rates if they don't accept Amex.

The rates really aren't much different considering the fact you can pay an extra 1 or 2% when taking a reward Visa or MasterCard.

is that right? Card Processors charge retailers an increased rate for 'Reward' cards?
