I did buy my LTFC shirt, cant face buying the proper shirt, so bought the leisure shirt with the club crest on it, It was an xxl, but I am so happy to be able to buy it :) As an aside I bought some tshirts this week, for the holiday, from Tesco and M&S, all been size XL :D Pretty sure thats a first in around 20 years for me. Jeans fit now as well :)

........feel great, eh chap? I remember the happiest day of mine during this whole thing.... I buy a few club crest shirts from my golf club, first one was an XXL, then the next four or 5 were XL.... bought one last year, tried it on at home, and then took it back to change it for a L because it fitted better. I was really :o going back to the club pro and causing him the hassle, but he was so pleased for me he beamed and gave me a box of balls as a freebie :) I walked out of that shop as happy as a dog with two d!cks.

    Hi All,

Could anyone recommend a diet club?

I've been thinking of joining Slimming World as heard a few good reports. How much does it cost, is the on-line club as good as going to a proper club?

I'd love to hear what you old/current weights are and how much I can expect to lose per week.

I've heard about sins - what food/drink can you have with this?

I've had a nosey on the website but would prefer to hear real and honest opinions.

    Thanks all :j

    Hello MrsJ,

Not slimmingworld but I would recommend Cambridge Diet assuming you fit the criteria... I lost 5 1/2 st in 5 months & was so impressed that I trained to be a counsellor. Prior to this I had tried most diets!

The following link is for the Cambridge Diet website as you would have to find a local counsellor. http://www.cambridge-diet.com/
The diet can be done in various ways depending upon how much you have to lose & if you have any medical conditions. I personally did the sole source version where you simply have the Cambridge products. It is worth looking into if you have a fair amount to lose - give a local counsellor a call & arrange to have a chat with them to see if it the right diet for you.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks Nicky,

I only need to lose about 1 - 1.5 stone so don't want to do a massive weight loss. Thanks for the tip though but don't really fancy having satchets insteaed of real food!

I'll read it all and when I'm more informed I might feel different.

    Thanks again, Lynz

    Hi Lynz :hello:

I think your approach of wanting to develope healthy eating habbits with real food is definitely the best for long term sustained weight loss and health.
I do SW and couldn't praise it highly enough. :T I signed up (at a club - I need to go to a meeting - 4.50 a week plus a £9 initial joining fee) early May with 2 stone to loose. It's taken 11 weeks to lose 1 stone - some at the club have lost much quicker than this.
With the amount you have to lose, it seems to be generally recommended you lose no more than 2 lbs a week what ever method you choose, (any more is water/muscle I think).
It's too complicated to explain about the syns as every single food has a syn value. But I find the eating plan incredibly flexible and you really can eat a lot and still lose weight. If you go to a meeing, the leader sits you down and explains the whole system before you are under any obligation to pay up, so you can sign up or walk away. Might be worth doing that to get a good explation?
I'm sure others here will offer their thoughts/ advice. Stick with us on this freindly forum and see those pounds melt away :D

    Hi MrsJ2008 and welcome :j

SW is very popular on this thread with a number of folks having success with it, WW is also popular so it will be a matter of trying to decide which one fits in with your lifestyle and food preferences etc. and I'm sure that someone will be along soon to give you their opinion.

I'm sorry I can't help you as I prefer to calorie count, but whatever you decide to do why not stay with us for extra support. It's nice to hear different points of view.

Oh dear, oh dear Ajax, Suggs, where to start.....

Some days I think I must be the female equivalent of Chandler from Friends.
Delly, whats up with the radio thats it can only get Moscow the once? :p
......... I thought I was with it. Why can't you get it more than once? I'm so poor at this for a dirty mac... must go polish mac (from the inside:p)
And there was me thinking that both educated men of the world, closet and open dirty mac brigade members would have tried to call Moscow (Tokyo). OH says that if you twiddle the knobs too hard you end up with broken fingers. ;)
gave me a box of balls as a freebie :) I walked out of that shop as happy as a dog with two d!cks.
Ajax - do I REALLY need to say anything about this? Although I must admit, the turn of conversation is definitely better than thinking about food.... As for polishing your mac from the inside:D I thought you'd be better occupied polishing your club when you've cleaned your balls...:rotfl:

Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

Lois I will neither run nor hide from you :) more likely to see me out and about in cmk though.

DH and I have just got back from Xscape - we were going to watch Die Hard 4.0, but it was full (must remember to book in advance next time!) so we had a couple of games of ten pin bowling instead - you weren't up there too were you?
I did buy my LTFC shirt, cant face buying the proper shirt, so bought the leisure shirt with the club crest on it, It was an xxl, but I am so happy to be able to buy it :) As an aside I bought some tshirts this week, for the holiday, from Tesco and M&S, all been size XL :D Pretty sure thats a first in around 20 years for me. It's a great feeling, and you have many more options now. Before I lost weight I only went into the 'fat bird' shops (no offence meant) and found it amazingly satisfying to go into 'normal' shops, only to discover that some of them had expanded their size range and I'd never realised!

I'm off to CMK again tomorrow - got a wedding to go to in September, and I haven't got an outfit yet, so John Lewis/M&S here I come, and as they're at opposite ends of the shopping centre, I'll be getting some exercise at the same time! (I'll be looking out for you!)
