Evening all :hello:

Apologies for not being around much recently, work is keeping me really busy at the moment. Sometimes I have the luxury of five minutes spare time to do quick posts when I'm at work, but that's completely out of the question at the moment - I've even been working today!

I'm completely in the dark about all this talk of polishing, Moscow, and everything that's ensued from Delly's physical limitations where golf is concerned ;) I've obviously led a sheltered life! (LL looks innocent!)

There's so many posts I feel I should reply to, but I'm being distracted by a funny programme on TV, so I'll save it for now.

Have a great Sunday - try and avoid the rain!

Hi

I'd love to join this thread as I'm trying to go it alone on the weight loss front and can't hack it!

I'd like to lose 2 stone initially and then see how I feel. I need to keep my blood sugars as stable as possible so will be trying to eat the GL way.

My main problem is that I have M.E. so my metabolism is non-existent and exercise is very limited at the mo (I used to run marathons etc- them were the days!) so I want to avoid setting myself harsh targets and just go with the flow for a bit without too much pressure.

What I'm really hoping for is a bit of moral support, and to be able to help others out in their quest for fitness.

Wishing everyone the best of luck for the rest of the week, see you for the Wednesday weigh in :)

Hello to MrsJ, bails and any other newbies I may have missed out.

MrsJ, I'm one of the SW members and would recommend it to anyone whose 'weaknesses' aren't bread or alcohol. It punishes you for these, although there are ways to have a healthy intake of either and still stick within the plan. Trouble is, when you've decided to enjoy a night of alcohol, who intends to stay within healthy limits? Not me :) If there's any specific questions, feel free to holler. Someone (forget who, sorry) posted up that the SW site-based group is £80 for 3 months which just seems a total rip off to me. If you join a class it is £5 registration and £4.50 a week at the moment. With SW you can fill your face with as much food as you like, as long as you set those rules at the start of the day - all will become clear if you join lol.

My wife is about to join WW and registration if free, with weekly class fees of £4.95 (I think, unless anyone knows different)..... from what a can guage (and echoed by one of our champions :D , petrichor), the big disadvantage with WW is the portion size, and that everything seems to get counted - not a lot of free food. Starlight_XX posted an excellent message a couple or three pages back which would tell you how many WW points you would be allowed to have per day - might be worth looking at this, seeing what you'd get, doing some research on points for food and working out if you could live within that. If you can't, you've saved youself some folding stuff.

Thanks for the welcome! Wow, you've both done amazingly well with your weight loss, congratulations!

I'm really looking forward to getting to grips with it finally, and any help you need at all fitness-wise just ask, only too happy to help!

My best piece of off the cuff advice is to do something you love e.g. if you love shaking your booty then find a dance class; exercise doesn't have to mean sweating in a gym!:D

......indeed, it's surprising how much damage can (apparently) be undone by having a simple game of golf. I dread to think how much work the Suggster gets through with his gym and rugger.

I'm just thinking how many of our female members love shaking their bootys (or anything else delly) - if lots I'm opening up a dance class. Audition mpg's can be sent to ajaxgeezer@hotm........ :D

Hello MrsJ,

Not slimmingworld but I would recommend Cambridge Diet assuming you fit the criteria... I lost 5 1/2 st in 5 months & was so impressed that I trained to be a counsellor. Prior to this I had tried most diets!

The following link is for the Cambridge Diet website as you would have to find a local counsellor. http://www.cambridge-diet.com/
The diet can be done in various ways depending upon how much you have to lose & if you have any medical conditions. I personally did the sole source version where you simply have the Cambridge products. It is worth looking into if you have a fair amount to lose - give a local counsellor a call & arrange to have a chat with them to see if it the right diet for you.

Hope this helps
Nicky

How much does this diet cost??

Hi Bails :hello:
you are very welcome to join this friendly and supportive forum. Quite a few members have various health problems, including ME which means exercise is virtually impossible. So you'll find lots of understanding here.
It sounds like you are well on the way to learning how to treat you self kindly and lower you expectations. We are very much into lots of small targets here. If you read the read of this forum you will see we have a weekly self weigh in and a monthly challenge to help us all along, with no pressure to 'suceed' but I've found it really helps.
It also sounds like you have a lotsto share that will help the rest of us to. We're all in this learning game together :j :j

the trouble is, everytime I start filming my audition tape, Mr BB gets a certain gleam in his eye and I have to run for it. Still, even if I get caught I get lot of exercise so thanks, more lbs off...:D
