I was thinking about the the title 'slimmer of the week' which Lois Lane 'awards' when doing the chart. I think you should also do a 'slimmer of the challenge' award for the person who loses the most throughout the challange - someone who loses 1.5 lbs per week is unlikely to get the much sought after accolade of SOTW but in aggregate may be the SOTM. Am I rambling? Does anyone else think it would be nice to introduce?

thanks for making me slimmer of the week, it really has made my day! not been on net all weekend as my laptop is being fixed and not always easy to get downstairs. did go a bit mad at weekend eating things i should not but listened to my paul mckenna cd last night and then when i read all your posts this morning i feel pretty motivated now. have a fewhospital visits this week so will use crutches then for bit of exercise and am going to try and do a few walks up and down stairs during the day. am still on the orlistat and taking it regularly this time, i even bought the book that accompanies the plan so will have a read of that too this week. next weigh in now not till about 28th august so hope to lose a few pounds by then, may not make 3kgs but anything will be a positive move. have a good week everyone and i will try anmd get on here to post daily if poss, bye for now :j

Hey starlight!! I'd get 32 points, going by your worker-outer-er table, which seems generous. I'd imagine that I can get well stuck into some good stuff with that allowance?

    Morning Ajax

My colleagues husband always does well with WW (though I'd be sorry to lose you from the SW fan club). My colleague and I always found we didn't have enough to eat, only being allowed 19 or 20 points each (and pasta is very highly pointed). But men are allowed many more points and her hubby always could eat far more than her and did well.
Looking at my old WW book, alcohol is 2 points for 175ml wine.
I'm teetotal myself and have always fond that slightly socially isolating. Seeing peeps struggles with it on this forum vis a vis weighloss is the first time I've seen it as a boon. I'd clearly be several stone heavier if I did induge and would have to face the struggle of cutting out something that clearly brings a relaxingpleasure to others.

Me too for the Aug challenge Lois :j :j

Can I just ask... if you join SW club - do you have to pay any extra for the books - or do you get them free when you are a member?

    thanks. ;)

    Hi Newlywed
they are free when you join (you get a thorough explanation of it all first before you commit to signing up or can walk away)
You pay a one off joining fee - usually £9 but sometimes half price. And then a £4.50 weekly fee. So 1st week, when you get the book is £9 + £4.50

Thanks. Do you have to commit to a certain number of classes or anything? To be honest I'm not a huge fan of the whole meet and get weighed class but really want the books (especially after being given a peek at the main one thanks to a user on here).

My sister used to go to WW some time ago and me and mum did the diet with her to support her (as we all lived at home). To be honest, I found the fact that I was hungry and not allowed any more food really frustrating - I only got 18 points. Also trying to work out how many points dinner would be and how many were left for lunch used to wind me up too, let alone trying to work out if I had enough points left to eat a banana!

So I am much more tempted towards SW and the whole eat these foods if hungry but don't eat these kind of lists ;)

Edit: It was me that looked up the online price and it says £20 to join plus £20 a month and you have to sign for 3 months! Nothing is said on the site as to whether that is charged monthly or if the total is a one off payment when you sign up - which put me right off!!

    Hi

no you do not need to commit to any number of classes. You are of course encouraged to came back on the basis they say that those who come regularly (and stay to the whole meeting, not just to get weighed) are the ones who do best with the weight loss and keeping it off. My leader is certainly a transparently honest woman and she says she has seen this in her own classes.
However, with the support of this forum, (and for some it is too difficult to get to class) then you could do just as well I'm sure with us here alone. I decided to commit to going every week, although it really isn't my cup of tea at all - very much like a Victoria Wood sketch :rotfl: . However, I have got to know some nice people and it definitely keeps me on the straight and narrow.
    Hope this helps

    Newlywed,

When you say 'books' what do you mean exactly? The only ones you get free are the "main" book which details how the plan works and has some syn and Healthy Extra values, and a couple of other smaller books with variations of the plan. Recipe books, monthly magazines etc are all charged for.
