Have you thought of trying WW Core plan or SW? Where you dont have to count cals or points etc?0

Efrieze I'm pretty new to the calorie counting thing only been doing it since I joined this thread, but its really easy. I use the various links at the start of the thread and most food stuffs have the calorie content on the packaging. All the fruit and veg are listed on the sites in the links. I set up a spread sheet and start each day with however many calories I'm allowed and count down.0

1lb off this week. Not very impressed with that after a maintain last week but I guess every little helps. The thing that bothers me is that I have been consistantly good since January and in the last 2 weeks my weight loss has slowed right down (even though I still have quite a long way to go). Has anyone else found this? Is it that the body gets used to the eating pattern and needs a change?
I am going through the same thing at the moment. My weight loss hasn't just slowed down - it has gone into reverse!
I have followed last weeks 1/2 pound gain by  gaining another 1 pound this week. I just really seem to have been dieting forever now. I am being fairly good - not perfect but fairly good on the diet. I am also so tired all the time, I just want to sleep!
I am getting the proper nutrition, I get plenty of bed time, just seems like my "get up and go" has got up and gone!
Reading these forums are helpful and I do feel inspired by so many of you, guess I am just going through a bad patch.
Also in 4 weeks time I am going to a family reunion in Canada, and I know I will (as usual) be the biggest one there. Last time I even heard my sister say "poor Marion" when she was talking about me. She wasn't being mean or anything, but I am the only fat one in my whole family and the pity is hard to take.
I am getting a bit upset now so will sign off. Thanks for letting me unload.:o

Hi Marion
I know it's not much comfort but you have done so well to date, just think how much heavier you would have been without all the hard work done so far. Go to Canada with your head held high  You are a success, and this bad patch will pass

Ello peeps, I wanna see what you good folk think about the situation of Mrs Ajax. We've been doing SW together for all of our time and initially both did very well - lost 7 stone between us, her only about half a stone behind me. We've had a Xmas off it, then had two months off it around the wedding and after going back, it doesn't seem to be working for her. She's only lost about 10lb in total, while I've lost 48lb. To put that in perspective, I was more than two stone heavier than her when we started it, now I'm more than half a stone lighter. 75% of that is her own fault and she knows it - she just can't get into it properly and likes a tipple of wine. 25% of it though is weird as we eat the same stuff, but the wine seems to punish her more than it does me. She knows that if you stick to SW then it works. The trouble is that she's having trouble sticking to SW.
What would you guys suggest? :-
- stop feeling sorry for herself, do what she knows works and do it properly?
- try something else. The reason she can't get into it is because she's probably bored with it.
She's talking about WW either online or at a class. Is there anyone out there who has tried both SW and WW, and would recommend WW? I know there are advocates of going it alone among you, what would you folk say? I'm too close to her to be able to give advice that she'd listen to. Would anyone recommend an online class at all? Does she need to be trying new stuff and varying her diet more? Would a stricter (so I've heard) WW plan suit her from what I have said?
thanks peeps.0 -

Hi ajax
It appears that you know what she's doing wrong but I appreciate that it's hard for you to say this to her. Regarding the wine, it's a fact that it does affect women more; when MrP and I drank I'd match him drink for drink, but it was me that gained the most weight.
Is she being honest with herself about what she has when she's not with you? As you say she knows it works and to do it properly (DON'T say it to her though;) )
It could also be that she is bored with what she's doing and a change is as good as a rest but would it cause extra work if you were both following different plans. I would suggest that you both (so that she doesn't feel 'guilty') try varying your diets more for a start, you know what to do so try and gently steer her in the right direction, but if it doesn't seem to help at all, then by all means let her give WW, or whatever, a try.
I wish her (and you) luck.
However!!!! it could be that since marrying you, she has become very content; weight gain happens to a lot of newly and happily married women.

I get all weekend off but the last thing I want to do with my time is be organised^^ That word ranks up there with the other naughty word people have been bandying about around hereIf I bulk cook it's usual spag bol sauce or chilli simply because I always make to much for just two of us to eat in one sitting. On saying that... if I could par boil some SW chips to freeze and make some mash (also to freeze) I would be over half way there...

Many congratulations Starlight :T that's a wonderful milestone to reach and so pleased to hear you had a fab time shopping with your niece(s).
Retiredlady - you've done wonderful as well don't let anyone (including yourself!!!) put you on a downer. Why don't you set your weight for now as a maintain weight? Give yourself a little breathing space to go up or down 3 lbs and then come back fully motivated and with a vengence after your hols.
Well done newlywed :j and petrichor :j .
efrieze... sorry I've nothing to add to what has already been suggested but hope you manage to get yourself back where you want to be.
Ajax... ohhh a sticky one that is. Someone (sorry I forgot who) mentioned that although they were sticking to the SW diet they had also decided to calorie count what they were eating. I thought at the time that it was a good idea. Why don't you both try that - of course it will only work if she is completely honest and it might give her the motivation she needs to get her kickstarted again. On the other hand - as Petrichor mentioned - she may be just content at the moment and not want to lose anymore
Lois - can you put me down for a maintain please? Car problems so I didn't get to WI last night. I'd kick the dratted thing except it would probably just drop to pieces like they used to show in the black and white silent comedies :rotfl:
Good luck to those yet to weigh in and I do apologise if I missed anyone0 -
