Lose Weight 13

Hi ajax
It appears that you know what she's doing wrong but I appreciate that it's hard for you to say this to her. Regarding the wine, it's a fact that it does affect women more; when MrP and I drank I'd match him drink for drink, but it was me that gained the most weight.
Is she being honest with herself about what she has when she's not with you? As you say she knows it works and to do it properly (DON'T say it to her though;) )
It could also be that she is bored with what she's doing and a change is as good as a rest but would it cause extra work if you were both following different plans. I would suggest that you both (so that she doesn't feel 'guilty') try varying your diets more for a start, you know what to do so try and gently steer her in the right direction, but if it doesn't seem to help at all, then by all means let her give WW, or whatever, a try.
I wish her (and you) luck.
However!!!! it could be that since marrying you, she has become very content; weight gain happens to a lot of newly and happily married women.
xxxx
.......thanks petrichor. We can't vary the diets that much together as I'm veggie, and while we can both cook, we're not inventive. If she chose meat in order to vary her diet, I would have a huge ethical problem with cooking it. As far as we can vary though, I will try to suggest it, and suggest that she sorts herself out with a few red days to help her vary.
We've lived together for three years and our habits have not changed at all since the wedding so I don't think it's that.
We've opened a bottle of wine each downstairs now, in between these posts. I'm playing golf tomorrow so will hopefully work most of that off - she doesn't have that luxury.0 -
Ajax... ohhh a sticky one that is. Someone (sorry I forgot who) mentioned that although they were sticking to the SW diet they had also decided to calorie count what they were eating. I thought at the time that it was a good idea. Why don't you both try that - of course it will only work if she is completely honest and it might give her the motivation she needs to get her kickstarted again. On the other hand - as Petrichor mentioned - she may be just content at the moment and not want to lose anymore
...... she says she wants to lose it. I don't know if that's the same was wanting to lose it.0 -

Hi Ajax, can't add much more to the ideas that have been ofered but it may be you have already sourced the problem (doesn't get the same exercise as you and also a bit bored with it). We have a couple in our SW class and he's losing much more than her dispite eating the same: leader says (and I have heard this fom other sources) than men do lose it quicker - women designed to hang on to their fat reserves longer for mother earth reasons  . Tonight leader was suggesting trying a few red days to several permanant green peeps as the change in food tended to shift a plateaux.
Difficult one. Only Mrs A can do it in the end, as you say.
BBI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Just a quick post before going to airport. Lost 1lb so if good on holiday may still do July challenge. Better still got inyo a pair of jeans that would not fasten before so thats a great incentive to keep going. Well done to all losers and maintainers. Ajax, I know that wine does nothing for my weight even though I love it so I try and restrict it, this happens even when I have counted it in my sins. Its just not fair..........Still I know I have to work round it to get where I want to be even if DH can do what he likes and not gain a pound........0

Hi Marion: just a thought, but keep an eye on this constant tiredness If it doesn't improve do check in with your GP. You never know, it may be a sign of a thyroid problem, or something else, which may effect your ability to lose weight. (And need treating in it's own right) (Tiredness also makes me weepy, have a big hug from one who knows xx)
And if you are so tired, I expect your exercise levels fom general activity might be dropping which might effect your weight loss too.

ajaxgeezer wrote: »Ello peeps, I wanna see what you good folk think about the situation of Mrs Ajax. We've been doing SW together for all of our time and initially both did very well - lost 7 stone between us, her only about half a stone behind me. We've had a Xmas off it, then had two months off it around the wedding and after going back, it doesn't seem to be working for her. She's only lost about 10lb in total, while I've lost 48lb. To put that in perspective, I was more than two stone heavier than her when we started it, now I'm more than half a stone lighter. 75% of that is her own fault and she knows it - she just can't get into it properly and likes a tipple of wine. 25% of it though is weird as we eat the same stuff, but the wine seems to punish her more than it does me. She knows that if you stick to SW then it works. The trouble is that she's having trouble sticking to SW.
What would you guys suggest? :-
- stop feeling sorry for herself, do what she knows works and do it properly?
- try something else. The reason she can't get into it is because she's probably bored with it.
She's talking about WW either online or at a class. Is there anyone out there who has tried both SW and WW, and would recommend WW? I know there are advocates of going it alone among you, what would you folk say? I'm too close to her to be able to give advice that she'd listen to. Would anyone recommend an online class at all? Does she need to be trying new stuff and varying her diet more? Would a stricter (so I've heard) WW plan suit her from what I have said?
thanks peeps.
Well, you know Id recommend WW lol WW is maybe stricter than SW in as much as when youve used your points up then thats you for the day. Personally I prefer that, I prefer planning out my day, working out points and using them then either carrying a few over or stopping eating for the day lol.
At least if she wants wine etc she can incorporate it no problem into her points allowance. Maybe a change is worth trying if shes come to a halt with SW
I love WW as a diet and wouldnt even consider any others, its definitely the right one for me0 -
Hi all, just reporting a 1 1/4 lb weight loss this week. Hope you are all well. Welcome to all the newbies, well done all the losers and maintainers.0

G'Morning Lovely Peeps
Well done TDQ :j and for getting into those jeans - have a great holiday :j ...
...Well done too mistywoo :j and emptypocketz :j ...
...starlight You are certainly strict with yourself, and I do a similar thing, I put my calories down for my meals for the day so that I know what I've got left to play with and once they're gone then that's it! I find by doing this it helps me stop nibbling, because I'd nibble then find I'd have no calories left for my evening meal...
...after a lovely day yesterday it's another wet morning, but looking at how some are suffering I don't think I'll moan, I hope none of our lovely peeps are affected by those awful floods...
...Good luck to those of you still to weigh in ...
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Hi all - tried the Quorn Peppered Steaks last night (after a fridge and freezer full of quorn goodies arrived from Tescos!) - Not too bad actually. The real thing is better but certainly would eat them again especally as they are so low in calories. Even DH said he woudl eat them again too! Result.
Re the plateau thing. I am going to try to eat a more varied diet over the next week and see what happens. I also liek the idea of the day up day down thing that Starlight talked about as I think I have down that on some weeks anyway but just not recently. We will see. Feeling more positive about it so that's a good start plus I am getting over my bug that has gripped me too so all good. Roll on next week's weigh-in...0
