...along the lines that you were now maintaining? and last week caught up with you? How is maintaining going? is it working out? Im dreading it :o

Well I stepped on the scales at Boots and can now be happy to report a 2lb loss, so I have dropped through a stone barrier and I presume am 6lb away from target :D Four weeks till the holiday :j

I keep looking at all those menus for the week and WOW!! what a choice, Lois' Lamb sounds lovely as does Delly's rice, what is marigold stock? is that made from old rubber gloves? :P

In fact does anyone have a reward lined up for hitting either the mini targets or the goal weight? Victory did you? Petrichor, what about youself? (a date with Rafa Nadal ;) )I remember a radley handbag been mentioned once or twice, cant place the name to the handbag though :) Mine is tied to a couple of things, firstly its after the holiday and secondly If I get my quarterly bonus at work ;)

    have a good day all

    Hi Peeps!

Trying to catch up with all the posts but seem to be getting lost somehow  (one of those days again) ...

...Last week Victory asked me how I planned to maintain and I can't seem to come up with an answer yet! So I was pleased when I saw your comment Suggs (above) about dreading it, because that about sums it up for me. I know that the theory is to gradually increase your calorie intake on a weekly basis until your weight stabilises and that by doing this you can continue to experience a few more weeks of weight loss (as has been proved this week with Victory's 3lb loss :j ). However, and this is the main thing for me, I do not want to see the weight go up not even for one week!! A few years ago I got caught in the same vicious circle and my weight went way way down, but I don't want that to happen this time. I'm hoping that I'll reach my ideal weight within the next couple of weeks and then with the help of this thread, keep it to within a few lbs but I need to get it in my head that I will be +/- and that a + is not necessarily the road back to porkiness!! Like everything else I say it's easier said than done :o . I feel awful saying this when there are loads of folk here struggling to get their excess shifted, so I hope you'll kindly bear with me for a minute...

...btw Suggs Well Done! :j another loss this week, just be wary of anyone trying to kick sand in your face when your holiday comes:D, and for putting a link to this thread in your sig (silly me never thought of that)...and regarding the reward, I suppose I'll have to stick with the handbag I don't think Rafa has enough energy to keep up with me :rotfl: :rotfl: (in my dreams:o )...

...Delly while I'm here and before I forget, I like the sound of your rice dish, I do one very similar but use one of those Matthesons low fat pork sausage instead of chorizo and add cajun spice too, it then tastes very similar to Jambalaya...

...apropos Chorizo - someone asked me for the recipe for Garlic Beans that I have planned for tomorrow. The recipe was in the You magazine (Mail on Sunday) as Chorizo and garlic beans which I'm going to adapt to a lower calorie option so if it turns out okay I'll put the recipe on the recipe thread (if anyone wants the full fat version to adapt themselves just pm me). I've had to skip making frittata for today but I shall be doing it on Friday instead so no fish fingers again this week :D I've enjoyed reading what some of you have planned as it gives me ideas for my plans ...Thanks lovely peeps :D ...

...A quick Hello! and Welcome! lovely newcomers :T ...

...now to try and catch up with the thread (I'm about 3 pages behind). Crumbs! Can't some of you gossip??...

Victory - I googled 'fatty food cravings research' and it seems that half the experts agree with your OH and half the experts agree with you  If you don't want to give in to the craving then it's up to you to beat it. You know you are strong enough or there is always the 'moderation' route especially as you are maintaining now. Is it anything in particular you fancy?

BB - At my old class the consultant had the usual raffle but instead of giving away a free week she used to get a basket of the new foods to try from the mag or a 'reminder' of some of the other free or low fat foods that you could try for a change. This consultant doesn't do anything like that :( I just need to get use to it...

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:newlywed - that's how my OH got me to stop eating buffet food as well - unless I'm first to the table ><
  • Just a quick note I haven't been around last couple days so will catch up with all news later. Please can you put me down for a 2lb loss :j:j:j this week.

One of our meeting rooms used to be next to the toilets and there's no way half the people using it could have gone in and out that quickly AND washed their hands!!! Plus one of the guys at work used to tell us how many didn't wash their hands .

Oh and my old boss used to come out of the loo still zipping himself up so not likely to be any handwashing going on their either :eek::eek:

well done all you fab loosers:j :j

Just a quick question that H and I have been debating....in the last few days have had a huge craving for greasy fried up horrible greasy take away kind of stuff:D the way I always handle it is to never give in, I treat it like a fight me against my body/brain....I win:rotfl: I just up the veg etc and it goes away, only this time it has gone on a bit and H reckons it is your body telling you that it is lacking in fat or something as the body needs carbs, protein etc all the variants to distrubute the energy levels correctly...

So, what do you think is H right that it is the body mechanism craving fatty foods and lacking in them or am I right that it is prob due to what it used to be like, the golden days when fatty stuff was allowed?:rotfl: :rotfl:

Does anyone know if there is a scientific research done on cravings?

I don't know of any scientific research, however fat is one of the four essential nutrients, so it may be that your body is telling you to eat it! I've often heard people say they are going to cut fat right out of their diet, but that isn't healthy at all. Read this.

What you may find is that although you remember eating and enjoying fatty foods, now that you've got used to not eating them, they wouldn't be as nice. I sometimes have a fancy for fish and chips, especially if I can smell them, but then I don't enjoy them as much as I expect to. I also suffer terribly with indigestion and heartburn if I eat fatty foods, so I feel like I'm paying the price for eating them afterwards...!

Treat yourself - a little isn't going to harm you.

    Hi Victory

Do you really want the horrible fried up greasy food or do you just think you do? Is it because you've denied yourself such stuff over the last few months? I personally would say treat yourself to some well grilled belly pork (just a couple of pieces NOT the whole pig :D ) and thoroughly savour every mouthful, then compensate the next day by eating healthily. You've come too far to spoil it by letting a craving get the better of you.

    Just my simple opinion :o

Thanks :) I dont know why but it just 'clicked' this time when I started it. Ive not had one single day 'off' my diet since I started, but have still socialised plenty, meals out etc :)

I havent set my final target yet to be honest. If I look at the big picture it can be too disheartening. My next goal is 100lbs, which I hope to reach by my parents Ruby Anniversary in September.

Im more than happy to share any of my experience etc with anyone... I know what a long hard journey this can be :)

    well done star and casper:j :j :j

LOIS thanks for the website very informative, petrichor you are right, I din't need it, just wondered why my body is so asking for it:D :D

elqueen Thanks for the advice, I am seemingly craving fatty foods, full of grease and dripping!! I have read and listened to the advice given and will not give in, although I have to say a little moderation....

petrichor I am with you on the not even for one week do you want to see the scales go up, all this is too terribly hard to go back up...the other thing is that I am not so sure that I can keep this rigidness up for life so will do as you have said try to keep it within the 2lb lee-way and keep on top of it, I can't let it rule my life though which it can, you can become so centred in loosing, the conversations, the food to be eaten, how to get out of do's because of not wanting to eat etc etc can over-take, I am practising reaching a happy medium but always at the back of my mind I have the fact that I know me and I am a greedy pig and given half the chance will eat anyone under the table!!!

Oh I love chorizo, spanish ham serrano, spanish food, olives, yum, paella....
