Hi Torties... gonna read all your posts then bore you with what I learned yesterday. Went to see Liam Neeson's new film ( little bit boring ) until late last night on my own hence no check in. Food and a few beauty bits bought yesterday but will confess all very soon....“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Had a busy morning at the group and managed to make a tenner by selling some of my cloth nappy stash so that's a bonus and a decluttering in one blow!

Hello,
My account got unblocked yesterday so did a food shop. So today is SFD number 9 rather than yesterday.
Cold getting worse so just a couch day today. Saw the midwife today and hopefully by the end of next week baby will get a few nudged to move things along.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
A SFD here today, DH is off work today so we got a few jobs done at home, a very long bike ride during which I stopped off at the bank to pay some cash in, called at my mum and dad's for a cuppa then home for lunch. Later we walked the dog for an hour in the woods then back to school early for parents evening. We haven't had any time for spending money.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Good Day to one and all. :T:T:T
It's been a slow day here at work and I am finding it hard to motivate myself to care about anything in this building!
Confession = £- 51 in boots last night.:eek::eek: Everything ran out at once and I was feeling somewhat vulnerable and a little ugly due to my skin playing up. Succumbed to the 3for2 deal on skincare and settled on Avene - expensive but I know the products will last until I leave the country. If anyone is wondering that massive bottle of shampoo/conditioner from TKMaxx in January is still going strong.
- £12 on groceries which included a £3 peace lily for my desk at work.Gotta stay in this office until I leave - might as well have something nice to look at....
- AND £7.99 on a water bottle. I know I know it's a water bottle but it's a wide neck one that's easily cleaned so I can get back into my green smoothie making which helped my skin considerably!
There. I feel better now that you all know. Sort of...........
Attemped to get a Virgin Sim Only deal. My address and Mums address refused as I can't be found on their system. Attempting to get on the electoral register which might sort the problem. Since private renting and "all bills inclusive" I have never thought to change the address. Eeejit! Which means another month with cra**p and very expensive O2.
Am also closing the Halifax account I opened last April. I could use it to get the £5 per month ( which I haven't done once ) but am wanting less to worry about and only opened it for the £100. Silly of me but it was a lot of palava between that one and my Nationwide giving me 5% interest rate on savings etc... Just one less thing to worry about....
I like the take that is happening here. Thank you to all of you who are contributing from your own situation. It's very interesting listening to where everyone is coming from, what you are dealing with and the varying degress of thoughts that come from how money is dealt with within individual homes.
Missed that programme though - might have to iPlayer it. yes it's a very sad states of affairs....“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. The course was very good yesterday. Definintely basic but the others that attended ranged from CAB Finance Capability officers / Housing & Welfare Officers / Benefits Officers / Mental Health officers (he was involved in CBT training as well - cognitive behavioural therapy) sp the mix of opinions was strong, informative and over all a good day. Looking forward to the next session in two weeks.
The basic aspect of things were situations I would not have come across before - a framework has been set out by the government to assist people to go from basic to developed to experianced in regards understanding money from basic budgetting to investing. An example was how to assist a 20yr old, with three children, no GCSE's cause she dropped out at 13yrs old, with debts of £3500 and a over-bearing domineering mother who takes money from her and never pays her back - how would you help this girl?
It's all very interesting with a lot to read at home but makes me realise that there would be limits to someone who was simply a "money mentor". I am interested in gaining more skills so assistance could be more "in house" rather than sending that person to varying difference agencys - mental health teams / benefits office / CAB / debts advisors etc...
My aim... debt adviser / financial capability and some sort of mental health training - not so much the dealing of those suffering from mental health issues as that is a whole different kettle of fish but those that need confidence building assistance. I want to help people realise their full potential and to know they can do whatever they put their mind to - but don't know what that's called.Maybe that is CBT?
Anyway it was a great oppurtunity and the woman who put me on the course was there and my "group" partner for many of the exercises and tasks so she is a good ally to have and a thoroughly lovely lady....“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Hi Torties
Im still stuck on SFD no 6. Yesterday was spendy as I needed a few bits.. I based my food budget for the month on an ambitious £1 a day but I have almost maxed it out already and we are not even half way through March!
I know I dont half go on about greeting cards(£43 spent on cards up to mid August now!) but I have thought of another cheaper alternative.. While in papercha$e yesterday I spotted 60p postcards! So I might just send these instead or maybe even birthday letters (on nice paper).. I tend to personalise card interiors with cartoons anyway so maybe I could put my imagination to good use and create something spectacularly unique with letters instead and save a few bob in the process!
I popped around to see my ex last night with a bag of Te$co goodies to cook and also did some tidying up while I was thereI dont know how you dedicated and overworked teachers have time for anything what with the demands of your work!
I added the cost of ingredients onto my fun/pleasure spend and not my food budget since it was a social evening..
I bought a totally unessential smart phone fake leather cradle today! Ive had my beady eye on it for some time and in order to avoid spontaneous spending Ive sat on it (not literally) for 28 days before taking the plunge. It only cost £1.39 in the end as I managed to get 10% off in store with a discount voucher and also had £4 market research vouchers to use :T
Hope youre all doing ok
Keep it up folks!

Kat would it be some kind of counselling role you'd be looking at? What do financial counsellors do? The course will probably increase your network with the right people and they may be able to point you in the right direction
