Afternoon. Today is a spend day!!
My mum and I went to Morries for a start and then Tescimos for a couple of special bits I can't get there.
I paid my mum's shopping in Morries as I got £5 off £30 so it totalled £35.70 (with the money off).
However, mum paid my shopping in tescimos so it's a fair deal (I actually spent more in tescimos than mum did in morries so I am in profit).
Hope everyone is doing well. Keep plodding on torties.
Hugs.
P.S: Today is wasting time working out costings for our honeymoon but if it was happening in September 2014 rather than September 2018. It's going to be a fun day.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Thriftylass - I changed bank accounts around the same time as you, I do agree they are a bit slack about making it clear when opening online that you need to make an appointment in branch with your ID.
Today is a SFD. I have a sore throat and a headache but am hopeful it will clear up quickly and not develop into a cold. DH is off work tomorrow and Friday so I have to try and stop him buying things.
I did a survey for Sizzling Pubs and they sent me a £5 digital voucher (survey took 2 minutes) there is an offer on now until 17th for St Patricks Day for a burger and a pint of Guinness for £5.99 so DH is going on Friday for his 99p lunch. I won't be going as I am trying to lose weight and also I don't want to spend any more than that.
I have done an online grocery shop for delivery Monday with Tesco, they sent me a £15 off a £60 spend so I used that and £4.40 worth of other coupons. They have changed their delivery costs and the delivery is just £2, all in all with the offers and coupons I will have £92 of shopping delivered for £62. Not bad I didn't think.
There is just one more grocery shop this month for our budget period and we should come well under our £315 budget, bearing in mind we used to spend somewhere in the region of £420/month that is a huge saving. I'm really not sure what we used to spend it on, although we have both pretty much given up alcohol so that has saved about £40/month.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

a.4.
My point is that I already did that when asked at the start of February. Went to the Bank of Scotland branch which is my local branch here that represents Halifax and they copied my passport. That was necessary to even complete the switch. But I wasn't made aware the wanted more or it wasn't sent off etc. So I had to do it again.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

Spendy day today as was in town to sort out the bank so bought myself a new phone (a Nokia brick much like the one I had nearly a decade ago) to replace my beloved iPhone which goes off for 'recycling' tomorrow. I may have to ring my mum to figure out how to work it, I haven't had a phone with an actual keypad in years!
luckystarr I gave up facebook for lent - it is quite freeing no longer seeing everyone else stress about things! With the new phone I suspect I'll be not using instagram or twitter any more either.New graduate trying to get debt-free.

Evening All,
SFD day today as work again.
Managed to sleep thro my alarm this morning after a dreadful night with DD who wanted to get up and play at 2am and again at 3.45am! Luckily my auntie was looking after dd today and she arrived early at 6.20am and woke me up. It meant that I didn't have time for breakfast or to sort lunch, so was starving all day
Ikesmummy, I've been keeping a food diary for the last week and I've realised that I have developed a really poor diet, which is obviously the reason for my terrible training. I've got in the habit of not really eating anything in particular and just picking at what dd doesn't finish. I didn't even realise I was going some days not eating anything at all, except a few biscuits and half a slice of toast, plus half a gallon of tea. All my cooking lately gets portioned up and frozen for dd, and I usually forget to put anything away for myself. So, tonite I got some fish out the freezer and cooked with some rather wilted spinach and broccoli from the back of the fridge, along with a portion of mashed sweet potato I had reserved for madam. I've got a full freezer so there is no excuse for eating so badly, so that is my focus for the rest of the month, eating 3 proper meals a day. The half marathon is on 30th March so I should at least be able to get my strength up.
Have decluttered a bit tonite as well, got 10 clothes items for the charity shop and a bag of toys which I'll count as one.
Anyhoo, totals so far
7/15 SFD's
£48.11/£100 groceries incl cat food
7/18 LTW
0/£40 petrol
11/30 donations/declutter
now off to bag up the rest of the avon gumpf for delivery tomorrow.
Have a great evening and day tomorrow. xxxDebt as at Feb 14: £2272.40DFW Nerd no. 1024June Overhaul #260 -
me again....
I have just watched the bbc one "famous, rich and hungry".
It has really struck a chord with me that our nation has people having to survive on one meal a day and having to choose between food or keeping warm it makes me shocked and saddened that this is the state of affairs for our country
It has made me think and start reassess what is important in life and look at how I can make a difference and how to try and have a plan as we never know what is around the corner.
Apologies that it is off topic just felt i needed to put it out there0 -
Spend free day yesterday but not today. However of the money spent today, only the £1 bus fare goes on the travel budget, everything else is under the home improvement budget. This is only a theoretical budget, but if the house is to be up for sale by the end of the month, sometimes money has to be spent -I haven't learnt to make paint, tile grout, path cleaner etc yet. I did go round two pound emporiums first to see which items I could get there.
Some bits should really be in the normal budget but as I only noticed that the bristles in both nailbrushes (one in bathroom, one in downstairs toilet,as its the easiest when I come in from the garden -clean the paintbrushes and leave them in there as well) were worn flat due to trying to get paint from under my finger nails, I am counting it under home improvement (and if drinks and cake are what it takes to keep my little woodworker and his apprentice - yes DS3 is working as well -then that's under HI as well ). I'm not really feeding them, DS3 has bought takeaways (I got leftovers) only one of which I am paying for (HI budget) so it's been the odd bit of toast and a bacon butty from me. I am giving him some money. The lad is intelligent and skilled but has some health problems which would make normal full-time work problematical -in a world where employers want clones and drones,he is another who doesn't 'fit'.
Added 4 to my clutter clearing total today -3 bags to the cs and a garment of DS3's, which didn't respond to 3different methods of stain removal, has been binned, taking my total to 11/30.
Another fierce painting day (after yesterday I was doubtful if I would be able to move at all, but was unable to renew my library books on-line,so had to go out) for me. I am hoping that tomorrow will be more of a clean and tidy up day,but there may be a little more painting (the painting clothes will be able to stand up by themselves soon). I'd also like the chance to do some cooking, use my 'new' oven- I have offered to cook for the boys, there are lots of little before Christmas things to use up -if DS3 doesn't let me cook him a 'Sunday dinner' soon,it's being saved for Easter.
I haven't yet done a favour for anyone, although I did my best to re-unite a pair of left behind gloves with their owner at the doctor's last week. However today I asked someone for help and accepted with gratitude when it was given. Reaching for something in the pound shop,I knocked some items to the floor. Due to yesterday's efforts, anything below my knees is a no go area. A quick scan of the aisle, the nearest person was a woman who looked to be older than me (although more mobile, today), the second was a young man who responded promptly and politely to my request for help and sorted items into my basket and back on to the shelf. Why do we find it so difficult to ask for help? Do we anticipate trouble -surely most people are helpful and kind, not surly and impatient.
Keep plodding. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
