As I'm German I couldn't live without a passport here. Now got a UK driving licence but need to fly "home" at least once a year.

Did the big weekly shop yesterday as I had a SD anyway. But my card got rejected, couldn't remember my CC pin, had to come back with cash, all very embarrassing. Thought it was because I left it in the cash mashine earlier that day but got it back. So phoned them today, bl**dy 0845 number and on hold for 10 min. Only to be told sorry can't help you please go into branch. Grrrr. So bus fare into town. Apperently my ID verification wasn't completed despite the fact that I opened the account AND used the card. No rather annoyed and gave into a KFC my first fastfood in months. Well I'm not planning on spending any money for the next few days, not that I could as my card is still blocked.

Done some more in the garden but that cold and being 39 weeks really start to take its toll. Totally knackered. Nursery friends birthday tomorrow (bought a few inter changeable gifts in Tesco yesterday for less then a fiver for situations like that) and the leaving do of a friend at night which I'll cancel.

    Bye bye for now

    Evening all,
Well finally managed to get a min on here not doing to good this month due to paying for summer holidays. Also got a wedding at the end of the month which I have budgeted for but would rather off put it to debt, but I have to go as I have known her all my life. She like a sister so couldn't let her down she hasn't got much family and I am part of her family in way. Anyway enough rambling will be aiming for 15 SFD hopefully more and have paid £365 in total to 3 debts this month so far.

Can I have some advice from the teachers on here please? My daughter is in her 1st year of A levels and she could do with some help in chemistry. I feel she just needs pointers on how to revise and go over topics if that makes sense and advice on how to get the most out of the syllabus. I'm looking at getting a tutor, short term, to aid her in this. What should I be looking for and can anyone recommend an agency or something? Thanks :)

Hi traveller, I have started tutoring this year. Personally, I would look for a tutor who is a current teacher, teaching the same exam board as the one your daughter is doing. I know some people tutor all specifications but I believe they vary so much in the phrasing and terminology they like that it would be hard to be an expert in all of them. Does that make sense? Have you asked at your daughter's school or college? I tutor pupils from my school specifically for this reason.

Today was a SFD and LTW :) Walked the dogs for exercise too. I paid £44 more off my ccard this week due to tutoring :). I'm hoping to pay it all off by the end if April (fingers crossed) and then I'll only (!) have my loan left :T

Been feeling the stress of work this last week and getting overwhelmed, so I'm having this evening off working, however now I wonder how I'm going to fit everything in to just the next two days :o

Hope you all have lovely weekends

EDIT forgot to say I de cluttered 10 more items today :) I've started keeping a charity shop box in my spare room and adding items to it as frequently as possible. Kat's mantra of "someone else might need/want it" is really helping :) Thanks again Kat :)

Traveller, there is a massive leap from GCSE exam skills and AS. Go for a tutor because if a good grade is gained in y12, it means less stress in y13 as no re-sit is needed. I agree with fmess - be selective! You are the one paying for the tutor, so make sure you get the right one! Good luck.

Another NSD - number 6 now, methinks. :j

Dd has had a much better day. Her sling is extremely tatty and frayed now, tho it needs to do at least another week. After that I'm pretty sure it'll simply disintegrate. It was a flimsy gauzy thing anyway, despite being folded in half because she's so diddy.

Back to work for an Open Morning tomorrow. I'm on the buses so a 9-12 timeslot morphs into 7.30-1.30. Ugh! But at least the rugby is on in the afternoon :j.

Have had a really good day today, had several items I have sold via Gumtree and facebay collected adding £20.50 to the budget and de-cluttering at the same time :D. Worrkedd my half day from home and then me and hubby went out for a run in glorious sunshine (felt like summer). A few months ago we would have driven out in the car to the forest and done a loop but instead we ran from home, it meant the first and last couple of miles was mainly on the road but still had nearly 6 miles in the forest and used no petrol :D.

Did end up deciding we deserved a glass of wine (and some chocolate) so not a SFD but did only have one glass each so shouldn't be a tempted to buy another bottle tomorrow but think the next two days will both be SD's as need a couple of the lidl weekend offers and will be out all day on Sunday at a country park where you have to pay to park. Will have to work extra hard for SFD's next week.

DH working tomorrow morning and we are planning to take the boys to the local theme park again tomorrow afternoon (love the fact that having a season ticket means we don't feel we have to be there all day to make it worthwhile). We are so lucky it is only a five minute drive from us but people come from all of to visit.

Pizza is on the meal plan for tomorrow I think which will mean that as well as a SM shop, making a packed lunch and a tidy round I'll need to make dough tomorrow morning. If the weather is as good as forecast it may be a good idea for me to try and get the bedding washed and on the line as well as won't count on the rain not returning.

Wish there were more hours in the day and more days in the week, so many things I always want to do but never seem to get round to half of it.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Evening, morning whatever one may call it at this time!

Been at work and now having a wee glass of wine before bed, today was as predicted SF. Also I walked to and from school today, I haven't used my car since Wednesday and won't use it till Sunday when I go out for my long awaited spa day, I can't wait!

The money is allocated for paying for the spa which is £12 for the whole day and for coffee and pastries and a light lunch. I actually have a gift voucher for said spa but because the gift voucher includes a treatment they won't let me use it on entry only (they are fully booked for treatments) still I am going to take the voucher along and talk them into letting me use it so then I only have to pay for food.

I received some money unexpectedly, yesterday. Should I just keep it in my account or slam it on the debt? It's only £30 and I'm wondering whether it will make any difference considering I have made all the payments I need to this month AND when my bonus comes through I will be using it to pay the remainder off.

So it's the end of my working week now and I am enjoying the silence of my house and being able to concentrate on writing a post! I'm looking forward to having a quiet day tomorrow, shower, onesie and staying in playing with the kids and doing a few bits and bobs AND earning another SFD.

There seems to be lots of us having pizza this weekend, and I am one of them. DH said that pizza was his "new curry" for a fake away night and has asked for it again this week! I still have toppings left from last week but he has to buy more for himself because he scoffed the rest in the week.

I do love Saturdays now as there are no demands to go anywhere and after 3 nights of work it's lovely to get ready for a movie and pizza night with DH. Funny how you appreciate things more when you work hard for them and don't have them often...

I forgot to mention I have done two good deeds in the last week. I baked my dad a cake as a thank you for watching the children while I did my speed awareness course, and I visited my grandparents and helped set my grandad up with his inherited laptop and iPhone so that he can access book face so him and my nan can see pictures of their grandchildren and great grandchildren some of whom live in Australia. I must see them more often, in fact I am going to make a point of it as they are only a short drive away, I am planning on cutting two hours off one of my work days (when DH is also off) so that I can go and visit them more often and take the children after school.

I'll finish this epically long (for me anyway!) post by saying what I am grateful for.

    - my two beautiful children, who change and grow more everyday and are wonderful little people to be around.
-my grandparents, I am so fortunate to still have one set of grandparents around. To me they haven't changed a jot from when I was a child so it's like they will be here for ever. I always send them pictures of the children etc but I am determined to make the effort to visit more now.
-my family and friends- my wonderful parents and brother, my fab group of friends who keep me sane and accept my odd ways because they love me got who I am.
-being able to cook and bake good food for my family.
    - having a job in a company that treats it's employees very well.
    - starting to feel better in myself- it's taking time but my depression is lifting and I am starting to find myself again.

Ooh that was very profound! Right I'm off to bed now, that glass of wine is finished and now my eyes are drooping.

    :)

Checking in, yesterday was SFD number 3/15. :j

I really must stir my stumps in a sec, got to take the car to the garage, this could be very expensive

Going to walk into town from there and get a couple of bits done, then hang out in the library until the car is sorted! It is a couple of miles each way so that'll be my exercise for the day too.

Question is - can I resist the lure of a coffee in town?! I am inclined to think as the car is going to cost so much another £2 won't make any difference, but it is that kind of frittering which has got me to this point. OH WAIT... I have just found a full N3ro's card in my purse. I can have a coffee after all! And a giant one at that!! :D

That has made the morning feel so much more cheery. Just got to not buy a newspaper now!

What a lovely thread Mrs GSR :)
Regarding the money-as you have done so well with paying off stuff, i'd keep it in my account and see what happens.

Morning all, I feel a totally different woman from last weekend-full of energy :T I'm going to take the little man to Harrods today, to visit pet kingdom and look play in the toy department. They usually hand out balloons and jelly beans for free, so he loves it and it's less crowded than a museum, if you go early enough. I had an unexpected £7.50 refunded to me from after school club for the little one, so I will use some of this to treat him today. Although, if I can find my John Lewis card, we will get a drink and cake for free :T

I didn't shred last night as I was shattered, but will continue today.

This month will be a good month as it's the last month after five plus years of my student loan :T I was on the old style mortgage type, but only started earning enough to pay it back 5 years ago. Added with the fact that's when I started to pay for travel as I moved jobs, (always walked to work before) I was down over £200 a month, but didn't change my
lifestyle  Well here's to common sense at last :D

Have a good weekend everyone :)
