Its a pity we don't have paraplanners for mortgages as I'd be there like a shot

There is a market for this in my view.

    Perhaps you should exploit it.

I'm beginning to find helping fellow brokers on Cherry more rewarding than "competing" here with people I thought (and hoped) were like me, but perhaps they are threatened by me in their desire to generate business from here, when I have no such ambition.

Must admit to being quite astounded by some of the comments on Cherry this week in connection with next weeks Referendum.

    I hadn't read it, TBH.

I find that there are very strident views being expressed in some places and there is no room for debate. Seems that way on there too.

I'm very disappointed in the direction the discussion has been taken on the last page.

I can only speak for myself, but I found the information you brokers provide for free in here to be immensely useful when I was researching my 1st mortgage. It would be a shame if you left.

I've discovered in the last few days if I work out what a piece of business will earn us and decide I don't want it because it doesn't even cover costs, let alone generate any profit, I'm not ethical and not professional.

In the thirty-two years I've worked in this business I've provided free advice by the bucket-load, not even taking into account the five years I've been on here, repeatedly turning away business because it's not why I'm here.

I tell people I don't want PMs. I don't show our website in my contact details. Yet new members who, in their obvious superiority, consider themselves more professional and more ethical because they don't charge a fee and can take business due to its future potential, are using their business name as their login and publish their web address in their contact details.

I fear my days on here could be numbered as so many before me appear to have found. I'm beginning to find helping fellow brokers on Cherry more rewarding than "competing" here with people I thought (and hoped) were like me, but perhaps they are threatened by me in their desire to generate business from here, when I have no such ambition.

I tell people like it is, with thirty-plus years experience and knowledge and without hope or expectation of reward and if that upsets anyone...

    ... TOUGH!

Stick to your guns Kingstreet. Newbies come and go over time. A sure sign of a quiet business times. Your impartial advice is invaluable on the forum. Would certainly be sorely missed. as there's a generation missing basic financial and life skills.

They arent really competing if you dont want the business, though i appreciate the frustration when you can see their attempts to generate leads.

Please credit non- mortgage brokers with the intelligence to realise when someone is just here in the hope of gathering leads. The "what you need to do is see a broker and I happen to be one." posts are very obvious.

I would be sad to see you go.

I remember other posters over the yeears who were helpful and not seeking business. andrewSmith and StanmoreSaver come to mind.

Funny you mention this. I had noticed a recent surge in this and have noticed a few posts I wanted to comment on, but held my tounge.

    It's sad......

Without a code of conduct the forum would soon degenerate. Be a great shame if it did. Self regulation is what works best. Always worth speaking out.

I believe one of our recent 'new brokers' had his account blocked within a few days of joining and has now set up a new one.

Hopefully, a little more subtlety will be evident from here on in.
