Had the afternoon off & went and had my hair cut, then went to W!lkos to get some bits. They have pack of 3 water filters down to £4 from £6 & their own brand soda crystals down to 80p
Flying:
Kettle descaled
Water filter changed
Sun room & kitchen floors mopped
LR, hallway, stairs, kitchen, bathroom & sun room hettyed
Scart socket replaced with a blank facing (used screwdrivers! Go me!)
Tomorrow's plan of action:
Go to Bee & Que to get wallpaper table
Clean bathroom & hallway walls in preparation for wallpapering
Take rubbish to the dump
Attempt  to wallpaper the hallway (it's only one small section of wall - what could go wrong:eek: )
Goodnight all

I lost a big post earlier.
I'm trying to get pictures out of my head. I hope the police have success with tracing his next of kin. I think he has grown up twin girls and has only had 2 visitors in the 13.5 years that I have lived here. So sad.

Oops, went to make a start on my bedroom and started rearranging it... It's worse than before I started! BUT we can get to the wall to paint it now, DH has no excuse now (even if he can't get in bed!).
We own way to much junk!
Just downloaded a budget planner for excel so I'm going to go and try to work it out.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen: I would just hope that it never does. I didn't want Bossy to feel obliged, that's all.
Your opinion on it is no less valid than mine, don't apologise!
All parents (or anyone) helping in ours have to be DBS checked too; I *think* the school pays for the check though.
(DBS is the new name for CRB - it's now called the Disclosure and Barring Service so I assume the onus is on folks to 'fess up. Not seen any paperwork yet as I haven't had to re-apply so I don't know)
All helpers at DS3's old primary not only needed the CRB/DBS check but also had to attend an hour's session on Safeguarding too.
All our Govs are CRB checked (I think annually - I'm out of rotation with them as I'm 'done' as an invigilator every year anyhow) and have to attend safeguarding training. It can seem like overkill, if you are at more than one school, outside committees etc but that is the way of the world and if it helps to protect even one child well then it was worth it IMHO.
The dust is still lying undisturbed in the House of Dust but I have supported another friend today (who has had BC and since separated from her DH); spent time with another friend; amended more Governor documents; supported another Governor on the phone for an hour; chatted to the decorator who came to quote for an hour (his wife has the Big C too). For me I feel very :A and the dust will still be there tomorrow quietly minding it's own business;)
Right to see what DS3 is up to, collect DH from the station and wash up. DS1 should be home soon and has promised to collect DS2 for me.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
No CRB checks needed for parents to listen to kids reading in our schools but it is a tiny village school and everyone knows everyone else far too well....
Just wanted to bend teachers ears if I may..my son has problems at school...currently being tested for ADHD etc..he was naughty on WEd and got told off...he has a very bad temper so said he was gong to run away from school and walk home...about 25 mins on main roads...
due to him saying this the head refused to take him on the school trip Thursday..they were only out 2 hours at a local gym..20 children went..2 classes and 4 teachers....she said she couldnt gaurantee his safety so he had to stay with reception ..he is 7 and year 2...I think she has over reacted but am I wrong????
I have flown...a little....

Morning all
Hi mummyyof5
I work in a special needs school and absolutely love itFrom a support staff's point of view the head may have made the right decision for both the safety of your child and the others - if he had run off, (I'm not saying he would x), then 1 or possibly 2 members of staff would have had to leave the other children to ensure your son's safety. Also hopefully the head will give your son another chance on future trips - I would hope so x
From a mother's point of view I completely understand how you feel hun because I would have been gutted for my son if it were me x
I hope that helps and hope in no way that that sounds offensive at all? I also hope you know one way or another of the outcome of the tests soon - the waiting seems like forever I know x (My friend has just had her son diagnosed after a couple of years of waiting and her lovely, lovely boy has come on in leaps and bounds since - he's an absolute trouper).
Well I'm off to do a quick tidy up, feed animals, sort dishes and shower before I go off to my 2 cleaning jobs - on my return I will be cleaning my own house! Oh the joys, lol
Have a lovely weekend all

Have I opened a can of worms? I won't be helping out in school so no mention of any checks. It's only a bit of paperwork and attending the odd meeting. I haven't got time for anything else. The days I'm not at work I have DD anyway.
I admire all of you who do work in schoolsbut it's really not for me :rotfl:
As for brownie points, it does seem unfair. We have 87 reception children. It's just not possible for every parent to be involved. But I confess it had occurred to me that if I am we'll known and reliable that would reflect well on the children. Especially when you consider we are/were on their vulnerable families list... Anyway, it was great to see the building plans and everything is on schedule for opening in September!Bossymoo
