Let's hope (for your sake ) that you exercise more "diplomacy and measured response" when you speak to your neighbours about their dogs than you have so far shown in your posts on this thread.
well that's what I just said and you quoted isn't it?

Post a note into your neighbours, job done x
that's probably a very good idea, it's that or the conversation. But with a conversation it doesn't matter how reasonable you are, to talk about yapping dogs will put them on the back foot because they're their yapping dogs! I prefer up front though so I'm still undecided it'll be one of the two.

this is why I don't get some of the dog people on here - these yapping dogs are not their yapping dogs, granted they probably have their own yapping dogs, but their own yapping dogs are not my problem they are the problem of everyone else in the street where they live!!!

Yes, but reading through your post on here, you don't come across as diplomatic and measured in your responses.

And you obviously don't recognise sarcasm when you read it. :rotfl:

burglars like barking dogs, as they cover up any noise and nobody pays any attention. ;)
  • I have Shih tzus and they do bark but I don't leave them out side to do so.

They will also be quiet when told. So it is possible to limit the barking. Obviously it would be totally unfair to keep them quiet all they time but they don't stay out side for long both are currently sleeping next to me!

I have two neighbours with dogs who bark and the one right next door does bark when we are in the garden, that is deeply annoying, as it always makes me jump! Over the back some scum bag leaves his dog outside all day during the summer and he/she barked to the point of exhaustion (reported to council and rspca). That was obviously was distressing for the dog and also drove me nuts.

So I do get where you are coming from, I really think It is a case of going outside to see the dogs, look over the fence speak to them, talk to your neighbours. be out there for a bit of time.

Shih tzus LOVE people and will most likely welcome the attention - even just your voice. Mine would bark at our neighbour but he made friends with them (threw a ball for them - they don't get that at all but loved that they were the centre of attention!) and they don't now. They love him!

If it is them barking when playing, then I would say to the neighbours something like Wow that's annoying! with a big grin on your face I can hear them all day grin grin - hopefully you get what I mean! and so will they!
