Just sold another guitar for £20 and a truly knackered one for a fiver.
Including the cash made earlier in the week, that's another overpayment to Cap 1, £35.

Hi ani fan just read our diary and realised I read your old one. Well done on selling things. One thing I have started to do is sell dvds and cd's that are no longer needed on musicmagpie. I now they don't give much for each item but towards the end of last year I sold £130's worth of stuff and am currently waiting for a £30 cheque off them. Am going searching in the loft this weekend for more cd's and dvd's that I know are up there just gathering dust.
Keep up the good work.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000 -
Hi there Amber03
I remember you too, nice to see you again!
I'd totally forgotten about musicmagpie. I'll need to have a dig through the old cds and see what I have to sell too. Thanks for the reminder! If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
There is also Zapper - never used it but some people on here prefer it to magpieBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Hi anni, I'm really enjoying reading your thread.
You are already doing so well, so keep going.
One thing I would thoroughly recommend is getting together an emergency fund as soon as you possibly can.
You need to put a small amount each month somewhere separate but where you can get it if you need it.
I went for £500 and this has got me out of many scrapes - car problem, washing machine died etc.
Just remember to top it up again if you have to use any.
Take care.0 -
Loulou's idea is a good one - I started the NY with this in mind and opened an on-line account with my local credit union - I can pay in what I want when I want ( currently using it for the weekly saving challengeBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Hi louloufox
Nice to meet you and thanks for the good advice. You too Igamogam. I'm just realising how important it is to have an emergency fund in place. In the past, I used to pay everything towards the credit cards but this got a bit soul destroying when I then had to use a CC in an emergency. It's not a good way to budget.
So, onwards with saving up an emergency pot. I'm thinking maybe £300 would cover it. I'm not sure but it's a good place to start. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
Just a wee reminder to myself as we approach the end of the tax year...I need to get tax relief on my work mileage. My employer pays 22p per mile and HMRC allows for 45p which is quite a difference.
This could be quite a good earner this year. Fab!If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
hi ani*fan!
I've just read your diary and it sounds like you're really focused on beating this debt! You said on your first page that you couldn't bear to cut up your credit cards - do it!!! :money: I thought i couldn't live without the buffer - paid them off - and then promptly maxed them out again! Not good
If you need to - write the card details down on a piece of paper and put it somewhere very secure and out of sight (I keep it with my passport/birth certificate) that way if you need to you can pay for a bill via the internet or get a food shop in if desperate but not having a physical card means you don't rely on it as money and can't use it on a night out or at the shops IYSWIM?
good luck & love the sound of that chesterfield sofa and armchair! I have 2 (donated) in my living room - does yours happen to be red?:D:D
