I'm still waiting for the letter from my uni I need to open a student bank account. Wish they would hurry up.
I just had a pal to visit this weekend. I spent money I really didn't need to, mostly on food, and am more than a bit annoyed with myself. However, this was the last thing I had planned before my lightbulb started glaring at me again so I'm trying to move on from it. Any plans from now on will be strictly budgeted for. Much as I enjoyed her company, it's nice to have my flat to myself again and get back to obsessing about money saving.
My best boy purrball cat needs his booster jag this month. I have no idea how much this will cost but need to squeeze it into the budget somehow.
My travel expenses have not been paid but I followed it up today with the boss and have my fingers crossed it will be paid very soon. I'm due over £200. Do they not know how difficult this is when people are trying to budget? Grr.
What else...oh, I badly need some new shoes for work. This is the problem with walking all the miles I do every day, my shoes have fallen to bits. I think I'll go out and search for a bargain this weekend.
I hope everyone's having a successful money saving time.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
I know what you mean about seeing friends - great, but they can be expensive!
Just had one of our purr balls to vet for booster - £45  Cost more than some holiday vaccinations my DD2 needed! However I have gone over to the envelope method of budgeting - things that are not paid by DD ( vets, dancing/swimming/music fees etc) are worked out how much they cost a year and divided by 52 and that much is put in an envelope each week - so vets fees about £100 a year means £2 in an envelope each week - I am not very good at it but the car tax milkman and vet envelope I do keep topped up so when bill due its not such a shock:)
Hope you find some decent comfy shoes!Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Wow Igamogam how super organised are you? That's impressive. I may adopt the envelope system for un-direct debited bills myself. Trouble with my budget is thatit's not quite adding up at the moment. Still, I'm getting there.
I'm off work today feeling poorly. Bleh. 36p for paracetamol at my local shop though. Can't go wrong.
I've also decided that I love love love my amp and guitars and don't want to sell them. I need to stop being so silly and just bash on with it.
No letter from uni yet. I hate waiting. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
I've just updated my signature and there is over £100 of debt paid off. I should be pleased about this but I'm not feeling so happy. I'm pretty sure my credit card payments have not been added to my accounts yet, not that they'll go down much anyway since the interest is almost as much as the payments, however, I could do with some motivation.
I'm having a text chat with my dad about selling my car and getting a smaller, cheaper one. His idea is to look around for a new one then try to trade in my old one at the same garage. Not a bad idea I think and would save the hassle of being carless inbetween.
I need a better plan, just need to get thinking.
And also try not to beat myself up about how bad I am with money. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
I have just realised that after the last of the bills go out this month, I have not a penny piece left to my name.
This is not good.
I probably have just about enough food in to last me. And I walk to work and back so that's fine. But I have two trips to Uni this month, at the cost of around £40 a go. It's all very well putting the credit cards away but now I seem to be using the kitty/expenses money and that can't continue.
Maybe a mini challenge is in order, I need to raise £80 as soon as possible.
Maybe I don't love my amp quite as much as I thought. Or it could be the right time of year to sell my lawnmower. Need to get right onto it.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
I've been busy number crunching. It's been difficult to work out a budget as my council tax is currently larger than it will be next month and my wage is smaller than it will be in the next couple of months. So to resolve this problem I've worked out my incomings and outgoings for the next year, looking at totals over 12 months rather than monthly. I included a budget for the bits I'd missed out before, haircuts, Christmas and birthdays, car maintenance, stuff like that.
The result was quite heartening. I can afford to live and pay all my bills after all. :-)
And I have decided to set a target of £5,000 paid off by April 1st 2015. This seems to be the absolute maximum that's realistic within this time frame. But it's a good enough target for me.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
On the downside I have just earned myself a bank charge.
Grr.
My kitty for expenses has dwindled, and I was trying to line up paying these expenses with when I thought the expenses claim would go into my bank account. I just had a spectacular fail on that front and am now £200 over my overdraft limit.
I hate this but fully intend to phone my bank and beg them not to charge me.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
Quick reminder to myself that Mother's Day is on the 30th of March. I might spend today making a card since I'm home alone, bored and feeling rough still.
Wonder what I can do for a cheap present? Hmm...
Actually, a work colleague just gave me a scarf she was given as a birthday pressie that she didn't like. Maybe my mum would like it? It's not my style but I was too polite to say so. Would that be bad, to recycle it again? If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
Just rechecked my credit card accounts and the regular monthly payments are now showing.
Debt paid off - £265.30
That's cheered me up!!If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
I've been inspired by the Frugal Living thread and made some soup out of ingredients I had at home already.
Lentil with potato and onion, stock and black pepper. It's delicious and there are 4 portions so 3 in the freezer and one for lunch today.
I'm also soaking some black- eyed beans for cooking in a stew later. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0
