I've managed to get my expenses tax relief form filled in. I'll stick it in the post when I head out today. Looks like tax relief on £1050. So £210, would that be right?

Not sure if they pay this back to you in one big lump or if it's monthly over a year. Anyone else know? It's been years since I applied for this as my last employer paid the full 45p per mile. One big lump would be great. I'd probably just throw it at the Cap 1 card.

  • If it relates to prior tax years, it will probably be a nice big juicy cheque.

I got charged £25 for the cheque bouncing at the start of this month.

I just phoned up that Spanish lot and they have refunded the charge! :j

Who knew that sometimes you only have to ask?! Maybe they're not as bad as I thought. :D

Think you may find Cap1 deduct any over payments off your minimum DD:mad: unless overpayments are made couple of days before DD due - just another way of making money from you - I know this is the case with Tesc* and N'wide

Morning Igamogam and in need of direction

Cap 1 are up to something. I rang them and they've told me that yes, my minimum payment (the full amount, not with reductions from overpayments) is showing paid on my account when they haven't actually taken it from my bank yet. Apparently it has been taken today and will show up on my bank account in the next few days.

Now, what credit card has ever done that? Said yes, you've paid! When you haven't. There have been many times when I've wished that had happened but no such luck.

I'm keeping an eye on them and if it doesn't go out of my account by DD I'll make the payment myself. They're not to be trusted.

It's for 2013- 2014. Think it'll be a cheque? Ooh that would be nice indeed. :)

I just got a bargain on my car insurance renewal, monthly payments reduced from £34.99 to £23.49. :T And a greatly reduced interest rate than before for paying monthly too.

I've only just realised the knock on effect of having points for speeding on your license. (I have 6...mortified) Without these, the cost would have been so low I'd have been able to pay it outright. Grr.

Note to self: driving slowly saves cash for petrol and also insurance costs.

Anyhow, I also realised my road tax is due at the end of May. That leaves this wage and another 2 wages before it's due. I'm challenging myself to save up so I can pay for a year instead of 6 months. At some point I will have a car kitty but right now, I don't. I may find a few things to sell to get this wee challenge started.

    6 months tax costs 156.75.
    12 months costs 285.00

That's a saving of £28.50 over the year and as we all keep telling each other, every little bit helps.

Wowzers:eek: What do you drive? My car tax is £32 for 12 months and even our 'big car' is just over £100.

Points for speeding - hmmmm I have discovered that it really depends which insurance company you are with - I have done quotes in past with points declared and without - just to see the difference and in many cases the difference was pence and at the most less than a fiver. All points spent now :D
