Another NSD again! I was a bit miffed at the aldi voucher too! My mm got me a voucher but £45 is difficult to spend specially when I don't need a lot! The freezer and cupboards are full! Might stock up on more cat food, batteries, tins of toms etc, maybe some wine! I will probably get these vouchers less often f they are going to be a £45 spend!

and I hope you had a fantastic day and enjoyed your meal out.

DH spent £ 2.68 today at Li*l for milk, cheese slices and cress. Still well under budget so far, thank goodness.

Had smoked haddock fishcakes, duchess potatoes and I made a veggie mix cheese dish from fridge ends. It worked really well :T

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday

  • going to give up for this week as gone over budget :( will start a fresh next week for the new month.

Does anyone shop once every two weeks? how do you plan for this? I would like to take advantage of the lower delivery prices for online shopping but don't want to spend the min of £25 as that is most of my weekly budget gone.

    Hi

I do a big supermarket shop at the beginning of every month - used to drag DH to our Mr T extra but now the delivery prices and amount to spend are down will do it online to save us an hour round trip and at least an hour in the store - as it is enormous!

I have a shopping spreadsheet with all the store cupboard things we use each month so I can check what is getting low. I then go on Mr T special offers/ all offers (today are 2572!) to check what I use that is a good offer. They have sent me two lots of money off coupons so will try and use those too if the items are cheaper than H Bags. Sometimes do the list with Mysupermarket on another tab so can compare prices at the other SMs - but no use if you are not near other sms.

Fresh fruit and veg, meat, milk bread etc I buy weekly. That is why at the beginning of the month I seem to have very little money left to last me!!! I couldn't do £25 a week either although it is a much lower amount than it used to be. Just going to prepare my order now.

Declaring at £222.73/ 200 as had a big shop last week of fruit and veg and cott cheese yogs and extra milk - but quite pleased as it is a little over 10% up. Next month will be the test so have increased budget to £250.
    July 16 £95/£200
    Nov 16 £0/£200

I do an order with Tesco every two weeks and get one of the cheap delivery slots. I use it to get the heavy/bulky items and bits like eggs/marg/special offers etc the shop at the market/in our small town for fresh bits.
The market is twice a week and one day I probably pick up just one or two items and the other market day I'll buy a few more bits depending on what we have on.

My month finished yesterday so I am declaring at £80/£80 and 22/20 NSDs :) See you all in May!

That's me for April and not doing too badly. I have been lucky with YS shopping though. I didn't go for the Aldi coupon either £45 in one shop is just too high a total to go for.

Reporting £0.89 on milk last night.

I do a big shop at the beginning of the month to get all the ingredients to batch cook 3 to 5 different dishes + every friday night/saturday morning I buy food to make something nicer on Friday and saturday night + small amounts during the week for milk, veg.

I used to prefer home deliveries (I also had a more demanding job than now) but the quality of the goods got worse and worse so I decided I should pick up my own perishables!
Honestly though, I am still experimenting so that I can minimise my trips to the shop!

    Later!

Happy birthday Kayester - didn't realise you were the same age as me (well 6 months younger actually)! Glad you had a lovely dinner and plenty of wine ;)

I have managed to get in a total muddle with my total :( hence why I have been avoiding posting as didn't want to fess up... don't think I'm over, or at least not by much, but have totally lost track! Will bravely gathered up all the receipts I can find and go through bank statements tomorrow and post back once I have some kind of idea.

  • Well last weekend's impromptu family visits and picnics has sent my food budget a little wacky. I had to swap and change meal plans to work around them too. So with a big mid week shop at Aldi at £48, this has taken me over budget. I will need to get a basics top up before the end of the month too.

Still happy, only my third month of the challenge and I'm picking up lots of great hints and tips from you all.
