  • Hi all, and thanks to those who keep the thread running!!

Went a little over budget in March, had a couple of visits from family and had to cook a few meals for more people than I'm used to! However there is still plenty of food in the freezer and the cupboards, and I'm getting good at this meal planning malarkey now!

I'd like to aim for £220 in April please - I'm cooking this weekend for Mother's day so have had to order a joint of meat a bit bigger than I would normally buy, and I'm not sure what's happening at Easter so I want to make sure I've got the costs covered!

We have ordered a delivery from Sainsbobs to come this evening, DH set up a new account to make use of the £15 new customer offer, plus he had an offer on his loyalty card account to get £15 worth of points as well, so fingers crossed we get both offers! I don't want to declare the spends from that until we get it though, in case they don't deliver everything that we have ordered.

I'm making a dinner from A Girl Called Jack cookbook tonight, and we need to do this more often to keep our costs down. I'm also getting a bit bored of taking sandwiches to work for lunch every day, so need to rethink that a bit!

  • Feb and March have been a disaster for me with food budget so I need to sign up here again to get back on the straight and narrow.

Please put me down for £150 for April please. Thanks.
  • The Sainsbobs order came this afternoon, annoyingly didn't have the joint of lamb I ordered for this Sundays dinner! So will have to go shopping in the next couple of days to get one because I'm working long days Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The shopping they delivered came to £44.56 with the voucher, so that's us started off for April!

NSD. Keeping at £100 for 4 weeks GC.
For dinner we had roast pork - FF + roast potatoes + stuffing balls - FF + cauliflower/cabbage/carrot + gravy.
Also used new recipe to me - Apple Cinnamon Scones - they smell lovely. Topping is cinnamon and sugar mix. Cost for 12 scones - about 60p.

I needed bread last night, so got cream needed for later this week as well, and some liver for my iron levels (which DH scoffed at when I came in but snaffled one of my 3 slices!). April hasn't started yet but I may as well start counting now.

Have been shopping this morning and spent £18.44 on a top up shop so quite pleased with that. Spent £4.50 in As*a on beans (Branston beans on special at 1.50 for 4 tins so bought 12); £4.35 in Ald! on fruit, veg & eggs and £ 9.59 in Mr Ts mainly on stocking up on spices/herbs as I'm putting together a box of regularly used ones to put in the motorhome as I keep taking the ones of the shelf in the kitchen and then forgetting to bring them back indoors when we get back from our weekends/holidays away!

Yesterday was an NSD so off the mark with those on the first day of "my" month!
