  • Did my first shop of the month yesterday at Aldi & Tesco. A little over what I had hoped for but have already managed to 'save' a meal for which I had bought the ingredients. Tonight was supposed to be a Slimming World version of macaroni cheese but I feel naff (very unlike me - however the cold capsules have started to kick in a bit, hence the reading of the GC whilst in bed)! So, DDs had lo pasta sauce out of the fridge with pasta & some sweetcorn from an open can in the fridge & DH had some veg and a HM lamb pie from the freezer. I have had marmite on toast made by a grumpy husband who you would think I had asked for the crown jewels from!

Kinda off topic, but it has to do with food, so not completely.

I had 11 grapefruits. I now have 10. I've learned two important things this morning. One, a grapefruit contains about a cup of juice. Second, I do not like grapefruits.
Any suggestions on how I can keep from wasting them?

  • Thanks for the new thread.

My month ends officially on Monday however DH is off work tomorrow so plan on doing big shop then. Will take cash out though!

Please put us down for £200 for the month to 30th April. Rather think we may go over this month as low on freezer and store cupboard items.

What has been causing a problem is I take so much GC money out in cash but other things come out of that such as small presents, bus fares, medicines, stamps etc and I forget to pay myself back for those.

Now have two voluntary jobs so will need to plan and shop more carefully.

    Have a good month everyone.

    Nov 16 £0/£200

  • Hi,

Can you put me down for £400 again this month.

I am aiming alot lower as I'm pretty stocked up on meat, should only need to do a costco stock up on loo rolls and washing powder. the rest of the budget to cover veggies and packed lunch stuff.
Hopefully I'll be away for 10 days as well (fingers crossed), but I'll be taking food stuffs with me as I'll be in the middle of nowhere with only a spar shop a few miles away (very expensive).

see you all on the 31st when my month starts.:D

Just back from shopping and only went in Mr Ts as didn't have too much to buy so saved some time and petrol:money:. This week's main shop wasn't much more expensive than Tuesday's top up shop at £27.36, so a total of £45.80/£200 for 1st week of April GC.

    Yesterday was NSD #2/15.

So a good start to the challenge.

Can I be put down for £160 for 2 people starting tomorrow. This is an area that we really need to cut down on and both mine and my OH biggest weakness when it comes to money. I doesn't help that we both work shifts and live in takeaway central, but I am determined to cut back and try to prepare meals in advance.
