just_the_two_of_us wrote: »Hi all - quick update after early shop for April! Much quicker doing it all with DH and car.
Have spent £108.92 already:eek: - some of that on stock cupboard stuff and wine for this month - which l bought much earlier in the year.
Now have a 12.5 kg sack of potatoes for £3.50 from nearby - ish farm shop. We decided to have a run out for a treat so were passing anyway. Have enough food for 20 main meals at least in freezer and are away 2/30 days in April so need only 8 more to manage for the month.
This month I am determined not to end up with several of the same type of meat left in the last week:rotfl: - it got a little boring!!
Managed to get G Blend decaff 150g refills for 2 for £7 from Mr T - even though shelf didn't show offer, also DH beers and yoghurts reduced and B Eye breaded haddock + other stuff too - receipt said we saved £12.62 but think it was much more! Whilst there we used the money off a litre to top up - so got petrol for £1.209 p/l. We were actually there when lots of meat was reduced, but didn't seem to be much of a saving and not much space in freezer so left them!!!
Does anyone have any recommendations for cheap and cheerful pasta meals - will look through the index too. We have kgs of pasta to use up and have gone off our usual bolognaise.
Now hope for several NSDs in a row. Catch up with you all later xx

Got to report a spend of £21/40 as hubster made some purchases last night (I have since pointed out that I am imposing a £40 limit on weekly spending so I am reducing what will be purchased this week)
The sprogs enjoyed their games night.
The cakes that sprogs n hubster made went down well:
Leftover pizza n salad for dinner today.
Hubster gonna do something spicy with some yellow stickered chicken thigh fillets though for supper.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
Grocery Spend Weekly Challenge (Sat-Fri):£30.50/£400 -
Just set up for April and so far so good. At the end of quarter 1 of 2014 I have spent 21.96% instead of 25% thanks to a freezer week in March. This meant my average £300 target was underspent by just under £75. All the scrimping and savings are looking towards paying down the mortgage in my other challenge thread.
Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone... (Shuffles back in qietly, hoping noone will notice too much!)
Hope you're all well still. Good news with weddings and babies and things!
I'm back in the zone, after going completely off grid and off plan for the last ?? months...
Anyway, I'm in this month for £150. That's for me and my two little ones, who aren't so little any more! They're 7 and 9 now, and actually eat! They've always eaten well, but it used to be in tiny quantities, but now they eat more than me sometimes!
I have a huge stockpile, although my lovely american fridge freezer died last year so I'm back to a regular one. It's making me use the space better though, rather than having tons of food in there and not knowing what it is!!
Enough blabbing for now - I'm off to make lunch. DS wants a toastie and DD wants a picnic (random stuff that falls out of the fridge!). I'll have the remains of my dinner from last night, twice cooked jackets, my all time fave!!
PG xGrocery challenge for family of three - me, dd(12) and ds(11), feeding dp 2 or 3 x a week too. Only food, not toiletries. Jan £87.97/£100 Feb £0/£100
