Abbey/Santander application - Delay

Our Broker (or should I say financial advisor) was recommended to us by a good friend who had used him and thought he was brilliant. However, they only used him for a mortgage with Santander that they were just "porting" to another house, so it wasn't a whole new mortgage application as such.

Oh right, im with a different broker company. i escalated my case and complained to my broker's company and they assured me that everything is progressing ok, but this wait is beyond ridiculous. Santander must be extremely slow

Do you mind me asking how long you have been waiting since choosing Santander? Sorry I am sure it is in this thread somewhere, but to save me looking through all the other threads!

i applied just before 24th March, they received all documents then. But they have been asking for documents back and forth.

We applied for ours on 18th March and are still waiting so you are a little behind us. It is appalling! Is yours a HTB scheme? Apparently, according to their mortgage reviews (which are dire) they keep saying they are behind because of the flurry of HTB applications!

Yes I am behind you. No mine is not a home to buy scheme, my deposit was just over 15%. I am getting a new build home though.
I never read the review before applying with them unfortunately. Wish I had.

I wish I had read the reviews too. At the time, Santander were the best on the HTB schemes so I am guessing that is why they are inundated! I think we just got unlucky with a useless mortgage company and an even worse financial advisor! I just hope we don't lose our house, I will be devestated if we do. This stress is not doing me any good :-(

When did your want you to complete by?
Mine was meant to be in 2 weeks, doubt it like.

We were wanting to complete by the end of May which was totally attainable (we are buying our rented property off our landlord so no chain at all), but no we are beginning to doubt we will complete by July at this rate!!

Keep getting on at your broker. I am constantly ringing up for them to check the progress and push the bank along!
