This information was updated on Thursday 20 March, 17:30
Processing your applications
Initial application set up
17th Mar We are assessing new applications received on 17th March
Once the application has been set up, you will receive a MATS update confirming your application has been sent to an underwriter or requesting documents.
Document validation
17th Mar Today we are assessing supporting documents sent to us either by fax or MATS document upload received on the 17th March
Underwriting date
18th Mar We are reviewing applications sent to our underwriting queue on the 18th March
You will have received a MATS message confirming the date your application was sent to our underwriter queue.
Average time to survey
4.5 days Our turnaround time from agreeing your case to receipt of the survey is 4.5 days
Where we have a requirement to survey your property either internally or externally
Please note: This turnaround time is included within our average offer time.
Average offer time
16.7 days Our average time taken to offer an application was 16.7 days
Based on applications offered within the last week (ending 16th March)
Please ensure you supply any supporting documents we request as quickly as possible, and that it meets our requirements. Delays in outstanding information is the main reason for an offer taking longer than our average time.
This is very useful (I'm having problems with a delayed mortgage approval for the person buying my property): do you know if the above timings are working days, or straight calendar days?0 -
Check ASAP. The reason ours was delayed was because docs we thought were submitted middle of March didn't until over a week later and that was only when I chased again and asked for the case no. Did they realise their mistake!
I had confirmation that the broker recieved them.. and was told that the lender is just backlogged...0 -

Anyone already had theirs approved. When the MATS system updated to Valuation received did it automatically update saying Application Offered or was there a delay?0

Hi there,
It took Santander 3 months to give us our mortgage offer! The worst 3 months of my life!
We're FTB and initially went for the help to buy scheme with a 5% deposit but they would not lend us this amount and wanted a 15% deposit! We eventually persuaded the mother in law to borrow us the extra cash and let them know.
We had to chase the valuation and its has been a real headache! Good news is we got the final offer through, but now there is a flying freehold on the property and don't think Santander will lend on it! So it could be a complete waste of time and money! Waiting to hear from solicitors. Wish me luck!0 -
