Welcome, its frustrating isn't it. Are you with a broker, or doing it yourself?
  • Hi there

Yes v frustrating. I am with a broker. Just like an answer and not left hanging.

    Keep pestering your broker.
And I would contact Santander direct and ask for a status. I know from my experience that my broker made a mistake and so the whole process slowed down. Also there seemed to be no urgency with sending documents and getting things sorted.
    Get on the case!

Thanks I think I might just do that.

Get your case number from your broker so you can check the status yourself on line.

Maybe we have the same broker? I'm now highly concerned that I may loose my property, after almost 3 weeks of them messing about... and not actioning with a sense of urgency!

    x2 with that one!
It might not seem like a big deal to them, but it certainly is to me.

    Hi All

Well we put in a mortgage application (through a broker) over 4 weeks ago and haven't even received anything in writing (no key facts illustation)! All we have received is a verbal acceptance in principle. The Broker keeps telling us that Santander are working as fast as they can and we have been asked for many statements, wageslips, proof of overdraft etc. all of which we provided weeks ago! Credit checks have also been done and passed and it has been with "underwriting" for a couple of weeks now. We did have an email from the Broker last Tuesday saying "great news, mortgage application has been approved and survey has been requested" then 15 minutes later received another email from him saying "sorry please ignore the last email, that information was sent to us from Santander incorrectly"!!! We feel like we are being led on all the time and just keep being told by our Broker to chill and stop worrying and that the application is going through fine and that these applications can take up to 8 weeks!!! Now although this mortgage is on HTB and we are theoretically a first time buyer, we have had a mortgage previously, but have been renting for the last two years after selling our old house and then our house purchase fell through on exchange day, (we committed to our buyers and moved out into rented) so we do know that it doesn't normally take this long!. We are getting really fed up with waiting and we are worried that our vendor (who is ironically our landlord) will think that we aren't really serious about buying the house if we don't get this approved soon!!!

Getting really worried, despondant and fed up now :-(
  • Who is your broker with?
I think Santander are the worst possible bank ever. Its a total joke
