And just coz someone does food shopping at Waitrose, or M & S, that doesn't mean they're 'posh';' it just means that they have more money than sense and are trying to be something they're not.

    Wow....how judgemental is that?!

LOL This is so dumb! Having your paper delivered makes you POSH?! PMSL! Do me a favour. :rotfl:

And what the hell has keeping carrier bags got to do with ANYthing?

And as for the wearing a scarf makes you posh! You wear a scarf if it's cold!

And if you buy your jewellery from a catalogue, does that go AGAINST you in the posh test, or FOR you? :rotfl:

Seriously, too daft for words! ;)

I think it's pretty obvious about the catalogue thing, in fact, I'm confused, you can buy jewellery from a catalogue? Does this mean argos though?

But the rest of the post is right.....it is daft, and its crazy people are being offensive and cannot agree to disagree.

Its fair enough (imo ) to see it as lighthearted(though I personally don't like it) and I reserve the right to dislike it. It doesn't been I have daggers drawn for those who feel differently :D

I actually cant afford to shop in M and S and theres one waitrose within about 20 miles of me and its not close to where I live

I have shopped in M and S in times gone by when I had more spare cash. I bought a groupon 10 quid voucher for a 5 quid in M and S before christmas spend and I just bought another one, I went round the shop mostly going holy !!!!, look at the prices, I also thought the ready meal portions were tiny.

When I earned 5 times what I earn now Id have shopped in M and S and not thought very much of it. Its not a matter of being posh or not posh as far as Im concerned shopping in M and S or not, its simple economics.

I like Waitrose mainly because it's the only supermarket in my town that isn't full of people screaming abuse and effing and blinding at their partner and kids. If I had the money I would never go anywhere else. Sadly, I do have to step foot into Asda, but generally need a lie down when I get home!

I don't understand the source of the animosity...can someone explain? Are people annoyed because it is judgemental towards people who are considered posh...or towards people who aren't? I genuinely can't work it out. Confused...

I feel it is judgemental towards both actually. As someone else said I think it is actually more about people who are trying to be posh than actual posh people.

I do the supermarkets in rotation (as rarely as possible ) I like waitrose because the whoopsies are pretty much the best, the meat is good quality (we don't eat much meat and choose quality of source over quantity) and I think it is pretty good at supporting UK based businesses which is good for our own economy. I also like their employment structure. But I don't do a whole shop there, our nearest is too small and the big one too far away.

Don't know about m and s. haven't looked in a food m and s for years, just doesn't hold much interest for me.

daisiegg - I don't find it offensive, but I can sort of understand why some people might. I have had people look down on me for using the wrong words (napkin/serviette, dessert/pudding) and for pronouncing garage garridge. It is irritating to be judged for that rather than your character/intelligence etc. But, I generally saw the quiz as a bit of Hyacinth Bucket silliness.
