Oh do get over yourself, it's based on fairly normal things in order to not discriminate. There are no questions about schools or wealth. It's harmless, light hearted fun.

You listed some degrees (not an indicator of poshness at all) and marrying a French person as reasons you may have placed higher...

Why do people have to suck the life out of everything?!

I'll help you out shall I, as you are clearly having some difficulty; the entire premise of the quiz is discriminatory. Degrees are indicators of education, not 'poshness'.

I'm all for having a laugh, but not when the joke is based on prejudice. And I was pointing out the whole thing was useless anyway, since I, by my background and schooling, would certainly not be described as 'posh', yet I got a score indicating I am!

I'd agree that it would all be a bit of fun if (some) people didn't really believe the stuff behind it and use it to judge others, but they do. So that's when it stops being fun.

When I worked in a factory oooop North, they said I was posh as I didn't use the f word several times in every sentence and didn't have a northern accent!

Haha reminds me of my first husband's family. There was one time when his sister yelled at her then 4 year old daughter (at the top of her voice) 'SHUT THE F***ING DOOR!' and then looked at me and said 'Sorry, Jo'. Hmmm.

I really think you're reading too much into this.

The questions posed in that test are the type of thing that might come up in a comedy sketch about what it means to be posh. It is clearly a light hearted joke, which leaves nothing to be read into or that can be used to judge others on. To think otherwise would suggest that someone has deep set insecurities.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

And yet look at the responses and the tone in which people are arguing over it? If some one IS insecure about it is it helpful to berate them?

There used to be comedy shows about all kind of prejudices, and thankfully we are returning to a state where we can laugh at things like the last leg. This to me is a very different tone, the dialogue on this thread. Initially that's why I didn't post. I only became interested when someone else said a similar thing tbh.

    :)

I don't see why, especially if its so lighthearted, people have to be offensive to each other in discussing their points, even if they disagree. :)

To think otherwise would suggest nothing of the sort. Not finding something funny because it is based on prejudice is not insecurity. By that logic, someone who finds a 'light-hearted' comedy sketch about say, veiled racism, or rape, offensive, would also have 'deep set insecurities'. It must all be in their heads eh? Obviously ridiculous.

Comments like 'its only a joke', 'chip on your shoulder', 'get over yourself' et al. are part of the problem. They shift the issue onto those on the receiving end. As if being unhappy at receiving negative prejudge is something to be ashamed of, to be criticized about. God forbid they have the ruddy nerve to voice their displeasure!
