If I were you I would be thinking a smart pair of black trousers, straight or skinny, with a silky oversized blouse in a light colour with lots of gold jewellery, oh and wedges may be a good option if you want height with comfort.
You could then either put a smart blazer over the top or a nice fur jacket xI don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
Im of the view, wear what you feel comfortable in (unless its a tutu).
I always wear a dress with black opaques. Even lighter dresses as I dont really like other shades of tights.
Im not a heels person, having broken my arm in them and never had a pair on since. I wear ballet pumps a lot. You could wear them with a dress or trousers.
Some people do have quite strong views about what you can and cant wear to weddings, there was a long thread on the boards a few months back and some people were of the view that black was a no no, as were leggings, even with a smock or a dress over the top.
Personally, Id wear black to a wedding and Id wear something I was comfortable in, I dont really dress up as much as some people but for a special occasion I make the effort and I do wear dresses more often than not when Im going out, but ones that I still feel comfortable in.
If I ever got married, Id want people there to celebrate with me, what they wore wouldnt be of great concern (well, unless it was that tutu).0 -

I rarely dress up which is why I always stress when there is an occasion to attend. I didn't think black toghts would go with lighter dresses but if they do that's great0 -

The dress I have thats light (I have a few but theres one I wear more often), has colour through it as well. I think I have an aversion to other coloured tights after wearing pewter grey at school for years.
I just prefer black tights to nude ones.0 -
If you are really unsure about trousers a maxi dress is a good idea. They are, usually, floor length so no one will see your legs and you can wear flats with them. There is no hard and fast rule that you have to wear heals with a dress. It's important to be comfortable in my humble opinion.
BHS have a nice one in at the moment.
Dorothy Perkins also have some lovely ones for around £30. There is a red one which caught my eye. I'd post links but I'm not allowed yet.
Pared with a nice little bolero jacket or shrug a maxi dress would look lovely and totally appropriate for a wedding, but also warm enough to cope with the changeable April weather.
I always think if you wear a bit of make up and carry a nice handbag you'll look perfectly acceptable. A fascinator never goes amiss for weddings either. Even a hair clip with a bow or feather on it can make a difference.
Hope you have fun.0 -

Im sorry but leggings to a wedding is almost as bad as wearing a tracksuit, just NO!0 -

Ive never personally worn leggings to a wedding. However, I dont think that leggings under a smock dress looks that bad, plus, some brides dont get dressed up either, Ive known people to marry in a registry office in very casual clothing.
A lot depends on the wedding to be honest. Some people think black is a no no, I wouldnt see a problem with it.0 -

I dont see a problem with black as long as you dont look like youre going to a funeral, i.e a bit of colour in somewhere! Ive worn a black dress with coloured flowers over it and black tights before.
I just think leggings would look like you hadnt bothered. I guess if the bride and groom were in their joggers you might get away with it :rotfl:0 -

I think it might be right forum. The answer was 'yes' when I asked the same question not long ago...
