Attending my friends civil partnership ceremony in April.
Not a big fan of dresses because I hate my legs and can't walk in heels. Not the most feminine of ladies. Help?
Are trousers acceptable to wear to a wedding? Appreciate this may be in the wrong forum

Totally acceptable. I wouldn't turn up in ripped jeans (and never, EVER leggings!) but smart trousers are fine.0

I hate to play up to stereotypes, but you'll be a lesbian at a gay wedding, of course trousers will be fine.

Definitely! Especially if matched with a nice 'weddingy' top!

Lol @ Person_One

But what kind of weddingy top? I'm completely useless.
Also, if I did choose to wear a dress are flat shoes acceptable? As mentioned I struggle in heels, am 5'9 anyway and have a bunion on my right foot so no peepy toes wanted (wow I'm really painting a pretty picture of myself here lol).
As I hate my legs are tights ok to wear with a dress??0 -
Flat shoes are totally fine! As are tights (even woolly ones)! And it could be chilly enough for tights, so you might not be alone.

What about a longish dress?Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

Flat shoes are fine (with trousers, dress or skirt), trousers are fine, tights are fine. Anything smart-ish will be fine, don't worry! So long as you don't turn up in pjs, oily overalls or a veil you can't really go wrong.0

I think you may be over thinking this a bit - you should wear what you'll be comfortable in.
The last wedding I went to was in the summer and I wore a light coloured suit ( jacket and trousers), with flat heels.
Flat heels and tights are perfectly acceptable to wear with a dress, but if you don't like dresses, it's fine to wear trousers - we are in 2014 not 1914, and nobody raises an eyebrow about it anymore, even at weddings or civil partnerships!Early retired - 18th December 2014

I wore a smart trouser suit to my stepson's wedding as did the mother of the bride..not a problem as long as you look smart..0

I admit it might be my age - but I would never, ever wear a dress without tights (or stockings) to anything in the least bit formal! M & S 15 d silky tights or stockings in natural (not american tan!) or black (depending upon colour of dress/skirt).0 -
Dress and ballet pumps maybe?
I wear tights with any length dress to "smooth out" my skin tone.
The last wedding I went to, I wore black pants, heels (but I'm only 5ft tall!) and a pretty top with roses and sparkly bits on. A lot of the ladies wore trousers
