I was suspended this week following an error of judgement. Something has happened within my team, I had no idea somebody was up to no good balancing budgets. 4 weeks ago, someone mentioned something may have been wrong and I didn't act upon the information. A really bad decision on my part. Now I'm suspended pending investigation. I feel I'll, can't eat not sleeping very well. Wish if acted on the info. I can't stop thinking about it. I fear I may lose my job. 17 years with the same company (from school). I've never even had a day off sick in 13 years.
Really worried. Good to hear you got sorted shazza.
  • I often take on work placements, many having a past of being on the wrong side of the law. When I interview someone, I look for openness from the candidate, along with the desire to use the past as a learning curve, and to move on in life.
Much easier to be outright and honest, than to shroud the past in mist.
  • same here, thanks for the replies.

Hi everyone, well had been feeling bit more settled after everything that happened at start of year then told today that my new employer still hasn't carried out past employment checks...so they know I was dismissed and my ex employer has confirmed that they only offer a standard reference...unless it involves a job requiring CRB check where they are required to answer any questions on a reference request... I don't know if this job needs a CRB check so I've got myself all wound up!!

Hi I needed to be honest as I was terrified of my dismissal being discovered after I was employed...plus I didn't want to start any working relationship with a lie...I'm just so scared I lose this job....honestly don't think I can get through that stress again...

Anyone got any advice? If there was an issue with my screening would they just withdraw the contract offer? It's all quite confusing!!

Hi ~ I couldn't just read and run. Hopefully they are happy with you and your work over these past couple of months to let bygones be bygones. Are you beyond the probationary period yet?

No 6 month probationary period. The contract was dependant on passing screening. As I said they know I was dismissed so....oh well just have to wait and see I guess!
