Finding a job following dismissal for gross misconduct

This is a tricky one. You need to consider what you want to gain from the appeal. here are 3 choices.
1) Re-instatement back to your old job with a written warning. Under these circumstances could you go back?
Hi
Shazza, l agree with above. You may find it difficult to keep working with the firm, if you were to be re-instated. As Lakes asked, Would you really want to go back?
In saying that, l think l would re arrange the appeal date and you could say as excuse to your new employer that you have a funeral to go to, or something that you wouldn't have to provide an appt card for.
Also, the appeal may give you another chance to explain you felt it was too harsh and that your work record up till now was expemplary and could the gm charge be revoked.
Also, another thought, would the employer not have to prove that you had no intention of rectifying your mistake and that you acted out of dishonesty?
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow too and hope the new post is all you want it to be.

Hi everyone just wanted to give a quick update - starting an ongoing temp job tomorrow which should last at least 3 months :-)) Happy but nervous as it's in a sector I've not worked in before!!
Finally heard re my appeal and I've been invited to a meeting in just over a week....problem is I really don't feel I can ask for a day off so soon into my new contract!! Don't know what to do.....
Congratulations! Glad things are working so well for youThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hi Shazza
How was your first day?

Hi River,
Mind boggling lol! It's a completely different sector so all new to me but it helps pay the bills!0 -
What type of sector is it Shazza?0

Ok got a bit of a dilemma....I started an on-going temp job this week..I've now been contacted by my other agency to tell me they have a firm interested in me and want me to work for 2 weeks as a temp and if all goes well in that period straight to permanent...now I have two concerns...do I give up a possibly long term temp role that I am in at moment for this opportunity? Secondly should I insist the agency let the company know I was dismissed from last job before I consider role? I don't want to get to a point if I take on this new role but lose out on the permanency because of the GM.
Confused!!!!0 -
Im not sure, if you have a long term temp job I would seriously be tempted to stick with it, because what happens if things dont work out at the other place?
Not saying that will happen, but if you have work that is long term Im not sure Id be giving that up for a 2 week role that could lead to something else.0 -
I agree with PaulineB - the facts - 2wks work with a possibility of permanent work. Or guaranteed 3mth contract which may be extended. There is no guarantee that the 2wk job will become permanent even without GM! Is the other job a different sector than what your use to, if so what sector is this?0

Hi All, so things have been going ok lately and had steady work last few weeks....but last few days been feeling so so down and just have this horrible sensation things are going to go wrong again!! Just can't help thinking everything is going go pear shaped again and I'm terrified my life is never going to get back to normal...has anyone else who has gone through this had similar feelings?? I honestly thought I had taken a few steps forward but now feel as depressed as I did when all this started :-((((0
