Really happy for you. You have taken your first step and hopefully things will get easier for you from here on in.

I appreciate you have been in a very difficult position and it has been stressful for you but I hope you take away some of the positives from this experience too while taking your next steps back into new roles. You have a solid work history behind you and from your posts on here you seem like an intelligent person.

  • I am totally overwhelmed by the support and understanding you folk have offered me!!! It has really really touched me and gone a long way to reaffirming my belief in the goodness of people!!!

Temp job is fabulous and wish I could stay but it's done a great job of giving me some self belief back after what has been a truly awful few weeks...I know I'm not back to 100% and I still have some shaky moments....but I'm getting there slowly but surely.

Old employers have been very quiet...I've been told I 'should' hear next week who is on the appeal panel...we will see...

Thank you all again for bring amazing!!!!

You never know - they could ask you back again if they need cover in the future. Good luck with your appeal.

Does anyone know where I stand re potential sanction to JSA if I need to sign back on? I know I faced sanctioning due to being dismissed but would it still be a possibility if I have to sign back on after this temp role ends?

Have they already sanctioned you or will you have signed off before the decision?

Once a sanction is applied it runs its course whether you are claiming or not. If no decision has been made they can make a reserve decision and when you sign back on and it would run from the date of the first JSA claim.

It depends whether they started the procedure and how long it is before you sign back on. If you really want a peep into the workings of JSA sanctions the link below is the decision makers guide. Freely available on google if you can make sense of it  The part relevant to reserve decisions is 34074.

Hi everyone just wanted to give a quick update - starting an ongoing temp job tomorrow which should last at least 3 months :-)) Happy but nervous as it's in a sector I've not worked in before!!

Finally heard re my appeal and I've been invited to a meeting in just over a week....problem is I really don't feel I can ask for a day off so soon into my new contract!! Don't know what to do.....

This is a tricky one. You need to consider what you want to gain from the appeal. Here are 3 choices.

    1) Re-instatement back to your old job with a written warning. Under these circumstances could you go back?
    2) Removal of dismissal for GM against your name.
3)Compensation for loss of earnings (compromise agreement with a good reference)

Only you can decide. However I will say that you don't seem to be having any problem in securing employment as you have already secured 3mths or more work + 1 1/2 wks work in less than 1mth since your dismissal (although on considerably less money than you would have continued to earn in your previous job)

Good luck with whatever you decide

    Thanks Lakes.

I don't think going back would be an option...I think the best outcome would be to have the GM removed.

If I can't make the meeting in person can I forward written evidence instead?
