Not only do my pets have middle names but they have forum names too.
I do this - I have the Village Idiot and the Fluffy Muppet/Madam Fluffyknickers. I also used to have a greedy Oranda called Morris the Muncher.
I think the best pet name I've ever heard was Coconut Fufu. A goldfish. But Psycho Fitzsimmons-Jones was a close second - his owner was a tiny white haired old lady at the vet's.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

All my cats have had middle names.....what's wrong with that?
My OH has just pointed out that one of our previous cats was named after him, using a slightly different version of his name.Val.0 -

Me and my Mam were at the vets once with mine & DH's old cat (the one before the Persian we gave now, which incidentally has an attitude! After reading Pauline's replies, I'm wondering if all Persians do?!) and the vet called out Charlie B******* (my maiden name), and my mam found it hilarious, she chuckled for ages after, she couldn't stop, and admitted she laughed so much she thought she would wet herself! :rotfl: Especially when the vet then called a rabbit in called Fluffy OwnersSurname!0 -

Nothing at all!We call our cat nicknames such as muppet or monkey, maybe they could be his middle names?!

When we got married and the DH had to get his birth certificate, it turns out that his Dad's middle name is actually the name we'd given to our cat! The DH hadn't realised what his dad's middle name was and so we'd inadvertently called our cat after his Dad in a way!0 -
When my cat dec was at the vet last year the vet asked my mum, does he have a brother called ant? The answer to that is of course, I didn't name them, the shelter did. I hope they don't ever have to go to the vets at the same time. The waiting room might find that amusing.0

Oh dear this seems to have descended into a thread about cats
OP I think I may go against the grain but I would be a wee bit hurt if my daughter chose her MILs name over mine for her first daughter, even though my name is unsuitable. Bad Nanna
As it happens, her firstborn was a son and his middle name is her fathers. But his first name is a derivative of her step-dads, who has brought her up since she was a baby. And although she chose the name first and then made the connection with her step-dad the look on her fathers face could not disguise his hurt. He has compared his name being second to being second best. (I don't think it would have mattered had it been a completely random first name)
That wasn't the intention but on hindsight it does look like a snub and yes grandparents can get emotional about these things especially if there is a history. However going back to your original post the big no no is saying something about it and fortunately you came on here before you did.

Just need some opinions before I open my big mouth! Both my daughters are pregnant and I will become a nanna for the first and second time this year. I am really excited and very proud of both my girls.
My eldest daughter has found out this week that she is having a girl, They have chosen a very pretty first name, however the second name will be her partners mothers name. Now I am really hurt, I do not want them to name this baby (or any baby) after me, but I feel in a way that I am being snubbed.
Is it just me or would you feel the same?
Its just you.0
