Totally. :) The "cyber bullying" off topic was ridiculous.

*am thinking I should now give my cat a middle name!* :rotfl:

One of my cats has an unofficial middle name as I have a tendency to call her "Lucy Ann" rather than just "Lucy".

My parents had a feral cat who used to visit and gave birth to two kittens in their garden and they were called "Sheila May" and "Teacosy Pete" after a local bag lady and tramp :o:D. Sheila May met with an accident before she could be adopted out poor thing, but an old lady adopted Teacosy Pete (my mother didn't tell her we called him that) and she christened him "Benjamin David"!! :D

    Jx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end
  • OP I don't think you're being silly at all, dd1 was given names we like and dd2 (OH got to pick first name and I picked the middle) first name is oh's grandmothers name and her middle name is one that would go with it, I would have used my mothers name or my grandmothers names but they didn't suit!!!
As someone else said maybe your daughters have got together and your other daughter wants to use your name if she has a girl? I wouldn't take it as a snub, her MIL name might just go better with the first name! I personally would use my mothers name before my MIL'S and I would put my foot down because us women have the hard part :D
Congrats on becoming a grandmother and hope all goes well!

My vets use the animal's name plus the owner's last name, it always makes me smile when I'm in the waiting room and they call out 'Alfie McDonald' or 'Suzie Jones' and it means a kitten or a parrot.

My mums vet is on red alert for one of my mums cats. Hes a chinchilla persian and hes had to have his temperature taken a few times, the last time he was in, they said he was actually quite a good lad, for him. Famous last words one of the vets said was why dont we just scruff him, my mum said the wails were like the screams of a thousand banshees. That would be wails of anger of the how dare are you touching me, surprised the vets dont all book a holiday when they know hes coming in.

I had to phone the vet up once and ask how one of my mums cats was, he was in for an op and she was at work and couldnt phone. His name began with a b and so does our surname and putting them together was just hilarious, I couldnt get the words out without going into hysterics, the girl on the phone after she had recovered, said, oh you mean the big black cat, hes fine.

Makes you wonder what happens to a pets surname when its owners get divorced. I suppose depending on who gets custody it may remain the same, revert to a maiden name, or become double barrelled.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

My cat, who lives with my parents ATM, is the opposite. He just doesn't do that nervy, tense thing than most cats do - he doesn't even seem to mind going in the cat basket, whereas every other cat I've known takes it as a deep insult, to be resisted at all costs.

The vet always looks astonished, as the cat just sits calmly to be prodded and poked, doesn't mind having his teeth looked at, or even booster jabs, just takes it all in his stride.

My vets only use my pets' first names because they are guaranteed to be the only ones. Our big dog sometimes gets the surname though, and her abbreviated first name, which could be another dogs name.

My DH and I discussed that when we got the cats, We agreed they'd keep his surname. ( for more than one reason). Seriously, we talked about it :o

yep, we've had Sugar and Spice balletshoes (our guinea pigs) called for at our vets, always makes me smile. My favourite is my workmates hamster name at the vets - Fluffball Porter :D!
