This thread seems to have died over the past few months, I guess Christmas isn't a traditional low carb time!
I'm back on it, and I've bought Tom Kerridge's new book "The dopamine diet". Yesterday we made the pulled lamb in gravy which was absolutely delicious! I think it will do two more meals, so we're having it again tonight and I can't wait. I'll probably freeze the rest.
I've started shopping little and often, having a shopping list on the go all the time. It shouldn't be difficult as I work in a supermarket (3 days each week), but it could be a bit wasteful on fuel on my days off. Howver I used to get quite stressed shopping weekly as I used the do the shopping and end up with no meals, despite trying to meal plan. I've only just started so we'll see.
Today:
B: Nothing, I went for a a run first thing which always kills my appetite (until later when I'm ravenous)
L: 2 poached eggs, 2 bacon, half avocado, coleslaw
T: leftover pulled lamb in gravy
S: carbkilla bar - it filled the spot but has an awful aftertaste
Anyone else out there?0 -
Yes i`m still loitering, sadly the pies and other seasonal goodies got the better of me, put just over a stone on, I am slowly drifting back to my low carb life, I really love Tom Kerridge, good cooking without a million ingredients I haven`t got. Have you tried his star anise carrots, I love them.
Have been considering his book because of my liking, not been near a book shop to go through it yet, plan a trip to Neath possibly this week where there`s a W.H.Smiths.
I have a dog and walk about 4 miles throughout the day, sadly not back into my swimming twice a week and a yoga session yet, must get back to it.
I tend to not eat until mid-afternoon, then I have a "proper" meal, eg sunday/monday, cauli, sprouts, creamed celariac and I cooked a piece of belly pork, I cut this in half for each meal. Then as I have started eating I am looking for something all evening, love the microwave egg custard, I make it with soya milk, I don`t have milk in drinks. I have some blue cheese I am finishing off, I have been eating that with some apples and pears I dehydrated for that nibble time about 7-30.
I am having sausage today, defrosted overnight in fridge, can`t recall what with I will have to look at my menu plan.
I hate the taste of those bars too vile aftertaste to them.
Glad to have company again it will hopefully spur us on.Do I need it or just want it.0 -

Glad to see you're still here, pam.
Today was a work day for me and I hit the staff restaurant for breakfast
B: 2 bacon 2 fried eggs
L: Salad with crayfish
T: Turkey burgers from Tom's book.
The turkey burgers are made from minced turkey, sausage meat, and herbs & spices topped with grilled cheddar cheese. Again they tasted amazing! His recipe says to made a kohl rabi slaw, but we just had Finest coleslaw. It made 4 huge burgers, we had 1.5 each with just the coleslaw and were stuffed. So I've got one for lunch later in the week.0 -
That looks a nice recipe, I love the crayfish from Lidl, yesterdays extra was a red cabbage mix from Morrisons, it had cranberries in, there was also a pack of sauce but I didn`t use it, as back of box carb count was high and I think it was mostly in the sauce, it was very nice without anyway and would definitely buy again.
Think I will be having liver with cauli mash and a green veg today, not sure yet as I seem to have a few running about jobs, none in the direction of Neath, so could even end up with a frozen item from my freezer, fortunately nothing carby in my homemade meal stocks.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
I had a bit of a chocolate and cookie wobble yesterday!
B Bacon and eggs
L Ham salad
T kale with chicken, chorizo, poached eggs and pine nuts. Usually but mozzarella balls in too0 -
I ended up having salad with some smoked mackerel yesterday, really enjoyed it, had the liver today with cauli mash and also mashed swede as it was loitering in my veg rack.
Planning on fish tomorrow have a trout lol, possibly with salad, or if want a hot meal could have cod, parsley sauce brocc and some cauli mash.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
Today I just had a Tassimo coffee for breakfast as I ran and I didn't feel hungry afterwards. For lunch I had a reduced bacon rib joint from the Hot Deli at Tesco.
Tea will be sausage ragu with courgetti.
I haven't got any low carb snacks in, and that is definitely what I struggle with, so I may try to make the low carb nachos from ditch the carbs website.0 -
Had the old trout with some sauted radishes, I remember now why I really think trout is overrated, bought the Tom Kerridge last night on my kindle, still reading through it, very interesting so far.
Got a huge ys chicken cooking in the slow cooker tonight, tomorrow I will portion it up and decide what to do with it.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
Hi, can i please join in?
I have been looking into eating a low carb high fat diet for a while now, but have always been put off because i dont eat a lot of meat or dairy.
Almost all of the recipes i was looking at were meat or dairy based..so i kind of gave up.
However, i decided to do more research and have come to the conclusion that low carb high fat can still work for me, i just have to be patient and work around it. I will base a lot of my meals on the low carb veggies, some tofu, plant protein and higher fat foods.
So I literally only started yesterdayCan anyone suggest any websites that could help me in beginning the low carb journey?
Thanks0
