Great post MMF
Hugs LL. Great to hear you sounding more positive today. Correction, actually you sound really positive today. Hope your friend provides some of the tonic you deserve. Grief takes as long as it takes; cant be rushed so please be kind to yourself.
I've hit the one stone barrier today. Easier now am spending less time away. Drinking lots of water which I'm sure is key to success. Have discovered the joy of muffin/quiche. Just sausage egg and cheese into a muffin tray and bake for 20 mins. So tasty and apparently good to freeze so instant lunches when am on the road. Am going to try more variations.
Parmesan crisps sound interesting. Must read the thread from the start when am upto date with work.

Hi Can I join you?
I have only just started eating low carb 2 weeks ago.
I went to weight watchers for the last year and a half where I lost 1 stone, but for the last year I have been putting on and losing the same 4 or 5 pounds, so I left WW and now am going it alone low carb.
I have lost 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks so I am hopeful.
I have struggled with my weight for years (hypothyroidism) I am hoping to lose about 6 stone and gain some energy.0 -
Just a word of warning - fruit, for me, contains too much sugar. It makes me hungry and definitely interfers with low carbing. Rhubarb (yes, a veg!), stewed with sweetner works great though
If i have any fruit I limit it to a few rasps, on another day I may have 2 strawbs, or 8 blue berries, no other fruits at the mo.
I eat tonnes of salad and veg and do take a multi vit because I am aware that there may be something lacking but I'd be surprised if there was much wrong, when you think about how some folks eat and they survive :rotfl:
I am not sure how healthy the low carb, higher fat thing is in the long term but if it shifts weight, and it does, that is good forever. Once I reach target weight I will reintroduce fruit but very few other carbs, i think.
Looking back I realise just how much my body craved carbs, and that's not good. I put on weight very slowly over at least 5 years so it wasn't due to gluttony, I just got in a big rut and ate more carbs than I should. Well I'm out of the rut now!!
I could, in all honesty, do more exercise. I have a strenuous part-time job, but on other days I do housework, some gardening, a little walking but I should do more for strength and a more intense cardio workout. I didn't feel I could tackle that as well as starting a pretty demanding diet - not wanting to bite off more than I could chew, as it were!. I'm happy that I find exercise easier now, I can FEEL the difference in the way my muscles work and I definitely have more energy. I'll build up to the rest!!

PS - although I have, on ocassion, mentioned what I have eaten, I don't like the idea of constantly writing or reading about food... I'll try not to mention specific meals. My aim is to chat about support, successes and get a boost from reading everyone's achievementsI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Good Morning Everyone
Well I'm happy to report I am feeling a bit more like my usual optimistic self today. I had a good day decluttering and Pottering about yesterday.
It's raining here at the moment so more of the same today. I'm being ruthless, with bags for the charity shop and a pile for the tip.
Then Physio this evening so hopefully a nice productive day. My ohysio did remark last week that she thought I was losing weight but because the battery on my scales has died I haven't weighed myself for a while. My tummy does seem flatter and I'm definitely less bloated.
I have ordered a new battery for my scales at last.
Fruit - yes that is something I need to think about. I don't usually eat much but I think until my blood sugar levels come down I might be best to avoid it all together.
So thanks MMF for the reminder.0 -
I have 3 huge freezer bags of blackberries , picked over the last few eeeks, those with some greek yoghurt hit the spot.
I am also feeling a little more positive today, despite the rotten weather, must be the new moon.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
Lessonlearned, hope the physio went well. Enjoy your visit with your friend. Laughter is definitely the best medicine!
I think I may have shifted another half, maybe a whole pound.......weighing tomorrow.
Busy couple of days, lots of gardening and a busy day at work today has helped the exercise quotient.
The decluttering is going well at our house, DH has joined in and that is really helping. I had blamed myself for having too much Stuff until I got rid of most of my excess and saw what was left........yep, DH never lets things leave! He finally sorted out a carrier bag full to go!
I have found that my change in mindset started with decluttering, the boost from that, which does make the house feel lighter, led me out of the rut and suddenly the low carb diet became do-ableI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Hi All,
I know this thread has been going on for a long time but can I ask a question? My GP has suggested I go on a low-carb protein diet of 1,000 calories a day. He said that because I have been on cortisone for years (due to asthma) only a strict diet will allow me to lose weight.
Is it possible to have such a diet? I thought protein has calorie heavy or have I got it all wrong?
I saw something call "Bear protein diet" but it was like 2 protein shakes a day, salad, and a sensible meal.
Any ideas?..............................................................................

I firmly believe that you need a minimum of 1200 calories a day.
Having said that, it depends on your weight & exercise.
I've just lost bang on nine stone now, by myself literally by eating whatever I want, but much less, & moving my backside more 😀Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0 -
You can low carb without special food products, easy and much cheaper! .
Meals are simple. Chicken and broccoli, lamb chops with mange toute, steak and green beans. Etc
Salads with coleslaw and cold meat or cheese.
Omelettes (2 eggs and bacon, or cheese or left-over veg).
Cauliflower cheese made just with cream n cheese.
Do some research on internet. Or take book out of library. I am doing Atkins. The book is very interesting. My friend is doing paleo.
You will not feel hungry.
Westy that's fabulous :T:TI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
