I had a horrendous night, the nausea was just awful and i am feeling rubbish again today. I dont mind the other symptoms, but the nausea is the worst. So just staying at home today. I wa advised that drinking broth is good, as it adds salt back into the body, which will help with the keto flu.
Not sure if its true, but definitely going to try it!
I also have had zero appetite. I ate breakfast yesterday, then ate some raw veggies about 2pm because i felt like i should, but i havent eaten anything since. The nausea is making it impossible.
It's interesting that Fireblade automatically assumed i am Low Carbing to lose weight. Yes i am hoping that will be a nice side effect, but i actually discovered that it is a good diet for insulin related health issues, which i have.
Thanks for the helpful advice and support
And you might want to increase your fat intake.
Fats such as olive oil, walnut oil, butter, (not marg), ghee, coconut oil and lard are good.
Also high fat foods such as avocados are good.
Took me a while to feel good about eating fat on bacon etc as we have been told for so long its bad for us.
Its GOOD for us.
never ever ever use cooking oils.0 -
I've been low carbing for 3 years and weigh what I did 10 years ago before middle age starting creeping the pounds on. I dread to think what I'd weigh now if I'd continued with my low fat high carb ways.
Calorie counting never did it for me. I never count calories when low carbing, there's no need.Make £2025 in 2025

Thanks, i will go and buy some coconut water in a minute.
I have all of those fats, but cannot stomach eating anything because the nausea is so bad.
I am sure it'll pass, but it just isnt very nice while I'm going through it.0 -

You didn't cause any trouble and I am just arguing the science. If it works then I will never say don't do it. I was only explaining the options available and why they work.
About the only need for low carb is the reason you gave which is related to very low insulin sensitivity.0 -
Pop_Up_Pirate wrote: »The body does need carbohydrate, and it gets enough from fruits and veg without adding in extra in the form of bread etc
The reason why people get "low carb flu" is not down to not getting enough carbs. It's down to the re-working of the body's processes as it 'learns' to use fat as fuel instead of carbs. It's a more intensive process which can leave you feeling tired and run down.
Calories mean absolutely nothing.
A diet in high fat and low carbs is fine and you will lose weight.
Well it is down to not getting enough carbohydrates. The body isn't receiving enough glucose so starts breaking down fat which is called ketosis.
Calories are important, first law of thermodynamics.
Did you read the link? Did you look at any of the studies?
There were 20 peer reviewed studies that show that when calories are equated low carb and low fat diets result in the same weightloss.
So why feel awful when you don't have to?0 -

FYI- i just had some salty water (not a nice experience!) but the nausea has disappeared. Going to get some coconut water in a sec, then i think I'll eat something.0 -

You haven`t upset anything, We are all low-carbing and it suits us, I too have lost over 4 st on a low carb diet, tried W/W and S/W same 2-3 lbs up and down, counting cals didn`t work for me.
Try an oxo in hot water.Do I need it or just want it.0
